We meet in the strong name of our God,
We praise You, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
*Litany
O Lord, all greatness, power, glory, victory and majesty belong to You!
We praise You, for all things come from your gracious hand.
Riches and honor, salvation and peace are Your gifts;
You give us all the blessings in the heavens in Jesus Christ.
You provide for us with abundance;
In Your great love, we are blessed with all that we need.
We praise You for Your generosity;
Fill us with your Spirit that we may also have hearts of generosity. Amen.
Prayer of the Day
Lord, there is no one like You in heaven or on earth. You have all power, and You
are the Source of all that we have. Give us strong faith to trust your provision each
day. Give us grateful hearts. Give us generous hearts. Give us love willing to freely
give ourselves away to bless others in Your name. In Jesus’ name and for His sake.
Amen.

First Lesson - 1 Chronicles 29:10-18 10 So David blessed the LORD in the sight of all the assembly; and David said, “Blessed
are You, O LORD God of Israel our father, forever and ever. 11 Yours, O LORD, is the
greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed
everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O LORD, and
You exalt Yourself as head over all. 12 Both riches and honor come from You, and You
rule over all, and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make
great and to strengthen everyone. 13 Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and
praise Your glorious name. 14 But who am I and who are my people that we should be
able to offer as generously as this? For all things come from You, and from Your hand
we have given You. 15 For we are sojourners before You, and tenants, as all our fathers
were; our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no hope. 16 O LORD our
God, all this abundance that we have provided to build You a house for Your holy
name, it is from Your hand, and all is Yours. 17 Since I know, O my God, that You try the
heart and delight in uprightness, I, in the integrity of my heart, have willingly offered all
these things; so now with joy I have seen
Your people, who are present here, make
their offerings willingly to You. 18 O LORD, the
God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, our
fathers, preserve this forever in the intentions
of the heart of Your people, and direct their
heart to You.”
Second Lesson - 2 Corinthians 8:1-9 1 Now, brethren, we wish to make known to
you the grace of God which has been given in the churches of Macedonia, 2 that in a
great ordeal of affliction their abundance of joy and their deep poverty overflowed in
the wealth of their liberality. 3 For I testify that according to their ability, and beyond
their ability, they gave of their own accord, 4 begging us with much urging for the
favor of participation in the support of the saints, 5 and this, not as we had expected,
but they first gave themselves to the Lord and to us by the will of God. 6 So we urged
Titus that as he had previously made a beginning, so he would also complete in you
this gracious work as well. 7 But just as you abound in everything, in faith and utterance
and knowledge and in all earnestness and in the love we inspired in you, see that you
abound in this gracious work also. 8 I am not speaking this as a command, but as
proving through the earnestness of others the sincerity of your love also. 9 For you know
the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He
became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.
Gospel - Mark 12:41-44

41 And He sat down opposite the treasury, and began observing how the people were
putting money into the treasury; and many rich people were putting in large sums. 42 A
poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which amount to a cent. 43
Calling His disciples to Him, He said to them, “Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in
more than all the contributors to the treasury; 44 for they all put in out of their surplus,
but she, out of her poverty, put in all she owned, all she had to live on.”
Pastor’s Ponderings . . .
1. What does it mean to have a spirit of generosity?
2. Who is the most generous person you know?
3. What hinders or blocks generosity?
4. What motivates a generous person to give of themselves?
5. What is the relationship between love and generosity?
6. What is the relationship between faith in God and generosity?
7. How does generosity build God’s kingdom?
