Faith Works:

The Balancing Act Romans 14:1 –

23

Big Idea: I am _____… and

____________! free

responsible

One man’s faith allows him to eat anything, but another man, whose

faith is weak, eats only vegetables. v. 2

One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike.

v 5

“Cleanliness is next to godliness.”

“God helps those who help

themselves.”

“Don’t smoke, drink, or chew, or go with girls that

do!”

“Don’t eat meat, don’t even chew,

and don’t dare eat with others who

do!”

Currently, believers differ over all sorts

of things…

Big Idea: I am free… and

responsible!

Distinguish biblical

___________ from _________

commands opinions

Accept him whose faith is weak, without

passing judgment on disputable matters.

v. 1

The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man

who does not eat everything must not condemn the man

who does, for God has accepted him.

v. 3

Develop my _____

____________ own

convictions

Each one should be fully convinced in

his own mind. v. 5

If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the

Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong

to the Lord. v. 8

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude

on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than

money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think

or say or do.

It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break

a company, a church, a home. The remarkable

thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace

for that day.

We cannot change our past, we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We

cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and

that is our attitude.

I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to

me and 90% how I react to

it.”

Chuck Swindoll

So whatever you believe about these things keep

between yourself and God. Blessed is the man who

does not condemn himself by what he approves.

But the man who has doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is

not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.

v.22-23

Honor the ____________ of

______ _________ other believers

convictions

You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or

why do you look down on your brother? For we will

all stand before God’s judgment seat.

v. 10

So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God. Therefore let us

stop passing judgment on one another. Instead,

make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother’s

way.v.12 -13

How good and pleasant it is when

brothers live together in unity!
