Faith Steps to the Future y now, most of you are aware of our capital campaign theme, “Faith Steps to the Future”. In our two hundred year old church, faith has stepped to the future many times in a wonderful journey from the banks of the Flint River in 1809 to 600 Governors Drive today. I am thankful for past generations of brothers and sisters in Christ whose faith steps prepared the way for all of us. How can we do any less for those who will come after us in this journey in faith? Most importantly, as I said recently, the campaign that is before us is a chance for Christ to make us something we have not yet become, both individually and as a congregation. ur church must look to the future and address the most pressing needs within our physical plant if we are to attract new members, address current space issues, and accommodate future growth. A new, purpose-built student ministry building will reflect the importance of youth to the future of First Baptist. Adding space to accommodate growth in First Fellowship is vital to the future of that service which has reached 80% of capacity, a point at which it is difficult to achieve additional growth. Renovation of the Christian Life Center will enhance the ministries of recreation, fellowship, and food service. These changes will provide much needed education space for Sunday School classes in other age areas and for future members. et us be in prayer that we will discern a goal and a purpose drawing us forth, not unlike all of those who took faith steps before us at First Baptist. Celebrate that we have come this far on our journey and expect that God will lead us onward as we step towards the campaign objectives. Faith Steps to the Futurey now, most of you are aware of our capital campaign theme, “Faith Steps to the Future”. In our two hundred year old church, faith has stepped to the future many times in a wonderful journey

from the banks of the Flint River in 1809 to 600 Governors Drive today. I am thankful for past generations of brothers and sisters in Christ whose faith steps prepared the way for all of us. How can we do any less for those who will come after us in this journey in faith? Most importantly, as I said recently, the campaign that is before us is a chance for Christ to make us something we have not yet become, both individually and as a congregation.

ur church must look to the future and address the most pressing needs within our physical plant if we are to attract new members, address current space issues, and accommodate future

growth.

Celebrate that we have come this far on our

journey and expect that God will lead us onward as we step towards the campaign objectives.

mULTipURpoSE SpaCE Renovation of the existing CLC gymnasium into a Multipurpose Space will provide seating capacity that is double that of the Fellowship Hall.

This will allow for continued growth of First Fellowship. In addition, the auditorium, which will be enhanced by state-of-the-art multimedia equipment, can house concerts, meetings and special dinners while maintaining recreation activities in that space as well.

CoURTyaRD The Courtyard will be a large manicured outdoor area contributing another place for First Baptist members and guests to worship, pray and meditate, hold receptions, and gather for fellowship.

The façade of the new FBC addition will be architecturally pleasing with the existing building. Parking will be conveniently located near every entrance.

Total cost of the new building is $8 million. If we raise at least $6 million, we will be able to accomplish the major pieces of the project. If we raise the full amount, we will be able to accomplish our project with much less long term debt. By giving sacrificially above and beyond our regular tithes and offerings, First Baptist Huntsville will continue to step faithfully into the future.

STUDENT CENTER A major faith step in our master plan is to construct a new, purpose-built Student Center that will reflect how important the younger generations are to us at First Baptist. We will have new classrooms for students grades 7 through 12 along with flexible large group space for various activities. As new families move into Huntsville and surrounding areas, we at First Baptist Huntsville

want to be prepared to welcome them with a facility that is designed and built with young people in mind. This is a vital step to our future.

GaThERiNG SpaCE With its dramatic skylight view of the existing steeple, the Gathering Space will boast a Welcome Center and grand staircase leading to the existing second floor classrooms and work out room. The Gathering Space between the Student Center

and Multipurpose Space (existing CLC) will allow for fellowship prior to church services and events. Small, intimate gatherings can be hosted in this space, which will be flanked by a support kitchen, adequate restroom facilities and multiple, convenient accesses to parking lots.

aDmiNiSTRaTivE SUiTE Another faith step of the master plan is a new Administrative Suite with an exterior wall that balances the front view of the church facilities from Governors Drive. This suite of offices will contribute to better staff coordination, with more conveniently located offices and easier access to the main office during the week.
