You are invited to participate in this formative study, subtitled Deepening Your Relationship with Christ and the Church. Janine will lead the study this Fall and we anticipate Devon will lead another opportunity in early 2020. This is an excellent refresher for longtime United Methodists, or as an introduction to our Church and congregation. We have workbooks available for $12. Feel free to ask Janine to see a copy in advance.

This study is limited to 14 people. Come to learn and grow together! To sign up , and for more info contact [email protected].

Are you interested in growing in your faith with others in a small intimate setting? A relational small group might be for you! A small group is an opportunity for individuals to grow in their faith and relationship with God by spending time with others engaged in conversation. The hope is that Christian friendship will develop and our love of God will

grow. We will find a group for anybody who desires to join one. Simply contact Rev. Christian White, Minister of Congregational Family Life [email protected] for more information.

12pm Sunday, October 27 Fellowship Hall The Christian vocation of marriage is not an easy one. And yet some of us have been called into it (then back out of it), and some of us have received this calling multiple times. Using Pastor Jason Micheli’s gripplingly transparent book

we will explore together how messy this thing called marriage can be. Luckily, God is with us in the mess and ready to help us find our way through. [email protected].

You are invited to the home of Marian Houser, who will provide small sandwiches and beverages. Everyone is asked to bring a side dish or dessert. Please RSVP by October 14 to Marian Houser (571)575-6754

FUMC members are active in service projects through ALIVE! the leading local non-profit assisting homeless and families in crisis. October is FUMC's month for food donations. You can help in October by dropping off canned or packaged food items in the marked bins at the rear and front entrances. For the latest information on how you and your family can directly assist our neighbors, go to https://alive-inc.org/.

An informal dinner with food, fellowship and a simple prayer service. Featuring Food from Pita House. Cost: $25 per family $10 per person. RSVP Christian by 9/30.

Do Finances Have You

UPSIDE DOWN?

Pastor Janine Howard

Thank you today for being All-In for Fairlington. Your pledge is your plan to give and allows for the church to respond to its commitments to the congregation and to the community. Pledges can be made online, put into the plate any Sunday, or sent by mail or phone anytime. The needs are great, and all of our gifts help support this community and ensure we remain open to all who rely on our many gifts.

Learn more about financial planning at one of our upcoming workshops, ask a question and/or share what it means to give of your whole self, to be all-in for Fairlington. Leave your comments on Facebook or email them to [email protected]. ~Jennifer Ayers

We are adding a new worship service, in a different space and at a different time! Second Sunday gets going on October 13th at 7:00pm in the Chapel. Our focus for this service will be prayer and healing/wholeness. Our chapel provides a more intimate environment for worship than does our main sanctuary. Your worship teams will seek feedback on the space and on our new services, in order to best meet the spiritual needs of our congregation and neighbors. Perhaps we can even help our Building Committee as they assess the plans for renovation of this space.

If you can’t make the service on October 13, look for our next Second Sunday on November 10th at 7:00pm. We will let you know more about the theme as we approach the date. December is a very busy month, so we won’t host a Second Sunday and instead will direct you to the many other worshipping opportunities and resume Second Sunday in January. Please contact me with your thoughts and questions. ~Pastor Janine Howard, [email protected]

Are you thinking about joining Fairlington? New Member Sunday is October 20. There will be a breakfast for new members and church leaders at 9:30am in the Parlor. Afterwards new members will formally join the church during 11am worship. Everyone who would like to join can set up a time to meet with Pastor Devon prior to October 20, to prepare you for New Member Sunday and answer any questions you have. Contact [email protected].

Fairlington UMC is a Reconciling Congregation with open hearts, open minds, and open doors. We proclaim and welcome every person as a beloved child of God regardless of age, race, physical or mental ability, sexual orientation,
