Born in Lisbon, in the Castle quarter, she became a professional fado singer in 1959. She has worked in casinos, night-clubs, etc. and also in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, France, Spain and in the Portuguese Prov­inces of Azores and Madeira Islands. She has been in several short-length films and her face and voice are well known to TV and National Broadcast ( Emissora N acional) audiences in Portugal. She has been work­ing for many years at the "Folclore Restau­rante" with great success.

Born in Lisbon, he won a "fado" contest at the famous old "Cafe Luso" in 1957. He became a professional fado singer in 1960. During that year he went to Paris where he sang for a year, in a fado house. Then he returned to Lisbon and has been per­forming in many typical fado houses as well as on Portuguese TV and radio.

In 1957 she won first prize in the "Queen of Fado Contest" which consisted of a trip to Portuguese Africa. The same year she became a professional fado singer. Since then she has recorded frequently and has made innumerable appearances on TV shows. She has also worked in the cinema theater and radio, as well as in the bes~ ~asinos and nigh~-clubs in the country and m the four or fIve best typical restaurants in Lisbon.
