To achieve the planned goals and to expand the scope of study, USIM has established the Faculty of Quranic and Sunnah Studies in the session 2000/2001 and started taking its first group of students for Bachelor of Quranic and Sunnah studies programme.

It is hoped that this faculty becomes another avenue to produce graduates who are knowledgeable, competent and professional in the field of Quranic and Sunnah studies. In addition, the faculty also hopes to spread the image of Islam by giving opportunities to researchers and educators to study, research and disseminate knowledge and wisdom contained in the holy Quran and Sunnah to the community and country.

Studies of the Quran and Sunnah is the most demanded in Islam because it is fundamental to the life of a Muslim. Thus, it will ignite an appreciation of the Quran and Sunnah in the rapidly growing human life with technological advancement and global modernization movements. The top priority for the nation nowadays is to develop strong construction of civilization of human behavior. Hence, the importance of the Quran and Sunnah studies cannot be deniable.

Based on that intention, the Faculty is committed to continuously uphold the Quran and Sunnah in the mainstream of education. Among the initiatives taken by the Faculty, includes offering several new programmes of studies that integrate the innovative nature of the study of Quran and Sunnah in the form of the classical fields which are applied in accordance with the aspirations and needs of the country.

Thus, in session 2005/2006, two new programmes were offered: Bachelor of Quranic Studies With Multimedia (Hons) and Bachelor of Sunnah Studies with Information Management (Hons). Both programmes are implemented in collaboration with the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), USIM.
