faculty development academy
DESCRIPTION
Most of the engineering universities do not have faculty development academy. There is need for well-developed faculty development academy to develop the newly recruited faculty members, conduct research, develop curriculum, develop the industry-institute-government-national laboratory partnership, undertake sponsored research and center for innovation. This paper provides a methodology to plan for a faculty development academy.TRANSCRIPT

In the 21st Century , Engineering Programs have to focus on Global Context
What is Global Context ?
Vision to Achieve Excellence Considering the Diversity of the Students Facilitating Human Capital Development Adding Knowledge Capital Development Meeting the Global Challenges in Creativity Facilitating the Emerging Global Leadership Helping the Parents Focusing on the Engineering Education Assisting the Private Sector Initiatives Coaching the Talented Learners Creating Opportunities for Research Facilitating the Think Tanks
The role of existing National Institutes of Technical Teachers Training and Research They provide training programs for about
5000 faculty per year by considering the needs of around 1500 colleges and 1000 polytechnic colleges in that region.
May not plan appropriate programs for a single high performing college/ university.
They have about 50% shortage of faculty. They could assist in planning college
specific faculty development programs.
