1. Religion and Culture

As we are living here in Malaysia which is one of the Islamic countries in the world, the importance of Arabic language can be seen as Muslims tend to use it in prayers and giving name to the newbirths.

Arabic Language is one of the crucial things in religion (Islam) ,which the understanding of Al-Kitab and Al-Sunnah cannot be done unless by possessing the knowledge of the language. (Ibn Taymiyyah 1979)

2. Motivation

Individuals who are motivated will tend to learn particular language faster than those who are not.

An important factor influencing strategy use ( Oxford & Nyikos 1989)

More motivated learners used more learning strategies and more frequently (McIntyre & Noels 1996)

3. Gender

Some studies found that males use wider learning strategies than females.

Males are likely to use a variety of learning strategies than female in a study of adult Vietnamese refugees ( Tran 1988)

4. Proficiency Level

High proficient learners use greater and wider variety of LLS.

Low proficiency students used more communication strategies than high-proficiency ones (Chen 1990)

The higher the proficiency level of the students, the more aware they are of the rules and strategies of language learning ( Rahimi et al. 2004)

5. Learning Style

Individual learning style prefences also influence the type of strategies they use in order to learn particular language.

Learners who favour group study tend to use social and interactive strategies ( Rossi Le 1995)

Learning styles are internal traits of learners while strategies are external skills consciously or subconsciously used by learners ( Pei-shi 2012)
