Our Media Specialist
• Our media specialist, Mrs. Dorough, is the only teacher in our school library. She has many volunteers that help her out each week.
What is cool about our library?
• We hold many professional learning events each month. (Monthly Collaboration Meetings, Professional Learning Faculty Meetings)
• Volunteers help our library run smoothly. They help out two or three days per week.
• Since we are a primary school, we do not have AR or any online reading program. We do participate in Book It and Six Flags Read to Succeed
Self Check Out!
Inviting stuffed animals…Our school has grades Pre-K through 2nd. These stuffed
animals provide a fun loving atmosphere for our students to step into. It also provides students with a
visual for where popular books are shelved.

Facility Use• Facility Use– Students at Perdue Primary school can use the
media center from 8:30-3:45pm Monday-Friday.– Update: The media center will be open from
7:30am-5:00pm Monday-Friday. This would allow students and parents to come in with their children to check out books, use the computers and iPads, and read in the center.
Confidential Records• Confidential Library Records – Student records are open to any teacher at the
school. Teachers can easily find the book a child has checked out. Overdue notices sent to the teacher also have the title of the book.
– Update: Teachers and staff will not have access to student records. Teachers will not be able to look on the computer to find the materials students have borrowed for any reason other than safety.
Accessibility• Accessibility– Students with special needs have limited mobility
around the media center. – Update: Students with special needs
accommodations (wheelchairs) will have just as much access to books on shelf, computers, and other technology as other students in the school setting.
Circulation • Number of books students can check out– Students grades K-2 can check out one book at a
time for 7 days. Books in Kindergarten stay at school.
– Update: Students can check out 2 books at a time and they are able to take them from home to school to read. Students in Pre-K can check out 1 book at a time.
