This program requires presence

Frame of mind for the program and the day

What you put in, is what you get out

The triads, feedback and the role of the

bench-markers

This is an investment in you

This is a safe place

There is no such thing as failure, only

Attendance and commitment

Role of facilitation team

What does accreditation mean?

9h40–9h55 Hand over to organizational representative to welcome the delegates, share the purpose and strategic intent of the coaching training to the organization and what the organization expects of the delegates

9h55-10h10 Delegates introduce themselves, which division/area they are from and what they would like to get from the training. Share one of your goals with us.

Page 6

10h10-10h30 Hand out delegate’s manuals and other tools (bags with learning materials in it). Take them through the structure to build familiarity with learning tools.

10h30-11h00 Tea and Coffee Break

11h00-11h15 Take delegates through the 5 components that make up the training.

1. Authenticity of being a coach

2. The coaching skills

3. The coaching models

4. The coaching toolkit

5. The impact of coaching

Explain that the manual is set up the same way.

Page 7

11h15-11h30 Explain the structure of the training program – this refers to the modules, reflection sessions, practical’s and coaching sessions that form part of the structure

Page 7

11h30-11h45 Explain pathway to accreditation and deal with any concerns and/or questions

Page 8

11h45-11h50 Build awareness of organization expectations and commitments document that needs to be signed by end of Module 1

11h50-12h15 What is coaching and what is it not? Use the Meta-Coaching “bubble diagram to reflect the overlaps. Indicate that with internal coaching there is more overlap with mentoring.

Page 9 -12

12h15-12h40 Small group exercise: Read the section “What is Coaching” in the manual and come up with a metaphor for what coaching is like to share back into group.

Page 9 -12

12h40-13h00 Introduce different types of coaching – again re-enforce how internal coaching is different from external coaching

Page 9-12

13h00-14h00 LUNCH

14h00-14h15 5 Levels of Focus Introduce the difference between interesting conversation and useful conversations using the 5 levels of focus model. Explain how coaching is unlike any other conversation.

Page 12

14h15-14h30 Ask the delegates to find a partner. Each delegate had to prepare 3 goals for the training as pre-work. Ask them to choose one of those goals to focus on each. 1 partner needs to work on their goal, the role of the other partner is to “coach” them using only question’s that are useful (i.e. visionary and planning). Do this for 7 minutes and then swop

14h30-14h45 Debrief exercise

14h45-15h10 What is Meta-Coaching? Explain what Meta-Coaching is, how it is different to other coaching methodologies, how it is grounded in NLP and governed by Institute of Neuro-Semantics.

Page 13-18

15h10-15h30 What is NLP and Neuro-semantics? Explain that we will be focusing on the NLP and NS Presuppositions throughout the training.

Page 19-20

15h30-16h00 The Self-Actualisation Quadrants. Introduce the model to show how Meta-coaching is about building meaning and changing performance.

Page 27-31

16h00-16h30 Tea and Coffee

16h30-17h30 The Self-Actualisation Quadrants applied to organizations and organizational culture. Introduce how this model can be used as a diagnostic, and inform the direction of what to coach to.

8h40-8h45 Frames of mind for the day

8h45-9h00 Review of homework, deal with questions and check what stood out for each delegate

9h00 – 9h45 NLP Pre-suppositions. Take delegates through the concept of pre-suppositions and introduce them in detail to the first pre-suppositions. Explain that each morning throughout the training we will be introducing them to more pre-suppositions. Introduce the following pre-suppositions:

1. We cannot not communicate

2. The way we communicate affects perception

and reception

3. The meaning of your communication lies in the

Page 36

response you get.

9h45 – 10h15 Mind to muscle pattern run on an NLP Presupposition chosen by each delegate.

Page 36

10h15 – 10h45 Tea and coffee

10h45 – 11h10 Introduce benchmarking model and how it works. Explain the concept of benchmarking and why it is so valuable. Create awareness of the kind of feedback to expect in the first triad.

Page 37-39

11h10 – 12h15 Introduce Rapport, what it is, how to build it. Review benchmarks for rapport and explain them in detail. Exercise: Find a partner and coach them without speaking.

Page 40-50

12h15 – 13h00 Representational Systems (VAKAd) – each person complete assessment, write “results” up on board. Debrief each of the systems with particular emphasis on tuning down “Ad” to develop rapport.

Page 51-54

13h00 – 14h00 Lunch

14h00 – 15h00 Introduce listening, what is real listening and how to demonstrate you are listening. Review benchmarks for listening. Identify what gets in the way of listening powerfully. Eye contact exercise – pair up and sit/stand back to back. Have 3 conversations. Conversation 1 – talk about a movie you have seen recently. Conversation 2 - talk about how to powerfully impact the culture in your team/organization. Conversation 3 – talk about your views on abortion. Debrief – major point is how much you listen with your eyes and how difficult it is to listen when you looking at someone else.

Page 55 -60

15h00 – 17h15 Explain triads and that all three roles are important. Coach-ability and meta are as important as coaching and we will be tracking the roles played to ensure each person has opportunity in each role. Prepare delegates for what to expect. Only listening and supporting will be benchmarked. Delegates will not receive a benchmark at this stage, but more supportive awareness and feedback from the bench-marker to assist their development. Just ask vision and planning questions for now. Clients are to use one of their goals defined before training or new topic they have identified. Set up frames of the role of the bench-marker:

They are there to support, not test.

They will interrupt to provide opportunities for

learning.

They are there to ask for help, if needed.

Reinforce – THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FAILURE, ONLY FEEDBACK. Triads 3 triad sessions – SUPPORTING AND LISTENING ONLY, feedback NO benchmarking. Coaching for 25 minutes each. Each triad timed as follows: Coach 25 Min, Feedback 10 Min, Break 5 Min. Total time of 2 hours Review and gain input from bench-markers. Provide summary forms to person capturing details.

Only listening and supporting will be benchmarked. Use well-formed outcome pattern to talk about one of their goals defined before training or new topic they have identified. Set up frames of the role of the bench-marker:

They are there to support, not test.

They will interrupt to provide opportunities for

learning.

They are there to ask for help, if needed.

CHOOSE NEW PEOPLE TO WORK WITH. Reinforce – THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FAILURE, ONLY FEEDBACK. 3 triad sessions – ALL Skills. Coaching for 25 minutes each. Each triad timed as follows: Coach 25 Min, Feedback 10 Min, Break 5 Min. Total time of 2 hours Review and gain input from bench-markers. Provide summary forms to person capturing details – ASSIGN DELEGATES TO TRIADS AND POTENTIALLY ROLES.
