AminesQ 0120 Facile Synthesis of Optically Pure 1,2-Diaryl (and 1-Alkyl-2-aryl) Ethyl and Pro-

pylamines. — Key step in the route to the title compounds is the completely stereose-lective addition of lithiated carbanions of (S)-sulfoxides (I) or (V) to (S)-sulfinylimines (II) to give N,C-disulfinylated amines (III) and (VI) in very high or quantitative yields. N-Desulfinylation and C-desulfinylation of the resulting adducts is achieved without loss of optical purity employing conventional methods (TFA and Raney-Ni, respec-tively). — (GARCIA RUANO*, J.
