October 2008 The Multiphase Flow Assurance Centre (FACE) is a long-term collaboration between the three partners Institutt for Energiteknikk (IFE), The foundation for industrial research (SINTEF) and Norwegian Technical and Natural Science University (NTNU). The main objective is to deliver world class applied and fundamental research and education focused on production, transportation and separation of complex well fluids. Objective - Develop models and other tools that can be used to help understand, predict and prevent a broad class of flow assurance problems. - Study the properties of real/model fluids at laboratory and flow loop scales, including rheometer characterisation. Then, based on this knowledge, make fluids that mimic real crudes that will ensure repeatable flow loop experiments. - Reveal and establish a fundamental understanding of basic mechanisms and phenomena governing multiphase separation including phase dispersion processes. - Provide the various modelling activities within the FACE Centre with relevant experimental data in order to validate and build confidence in the flow assurance models. Participants The project is currently supported by StatoilHydro, ConocoPhillips, SPTGroup, Vetcogray, FMC Technologies and CD-adapco. Duration The project duration is 2007-2014. The Multiphase Flow Assurance Centre (FACE) is a long-term collaboration between the three partners Institutt for Energiteknikk (IFE), The foundation for industrial research (SINTEF) and Norwegian Technical and Natural Science University (NTNU).

The main objective is to deliver world class applied and fundamental research and education focused on production, transportation and separation of complex well fluids.

Objective- Develop models and other tools that can be used to help understand, predict and prevent a broad class of flow assurance problems.- Study the properties of real/model fluids at laboratory and flow loop scales, including rheometer characterisation. Then, based on this knowledge, make fluids that mimic real crudes that will ensure repeatable flow loop experiments.- Reveal and establish a fundamental understanding of basic mechanisms and phenomena governing multiphase separation including phase dispersion processes.- Provide the various modelling activities within the FACE Centre with relevant experimental data in order to validate and build confidence in the flow assurance models.

ParticipantsThe project is currently supported by StatoilHydro, ConocoPhillips, SPTGroup, Vetcogray, FMC Technologies and CD-adapco.

DurationThe project duration is 2007-2014.

BudgetThe total budget is 220MNOK for a period of 5 + 3 years.
