FAC’s Awards showcase aerospace talent

Our inaugural awards ceremony held on 29th May 2019, celebrated the best of the industry – with businesses optimistic about the future and was a huge success. More than 100 delegates attended our black-tie function at the Old Thorns Hotel in Liphook, Hampshire, where the winners were announced. We congratulate all those nominated and those who won. We are already planning a bigger and better event next year.

Categories included:

• Best Young Person in Aerospace, which was won by Thomas Lowery from Farnborough College of Technology.

• Technological Innovation in Aerospace was won by David Tricker of Materion, who are based in Farnborough.

• Best Woman in Aerospace was won by Sam Bunyan from Cecence, based in Salisbury, Wiltshire. • Best SME in Aerospace was John Lamberton of Weslake, based in Hastings, East Sussex.

On Thursday 30th May, following the FAC dinner, the NATEP

National Showcase event was held at Old Thorns Country Club

and Spa. The event was organised by Farnborough Aerospace

Consortium. There were Invited Presentations from The

Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI), Airbus, Boeing and ADS as

well as presentations on 17 NATEP projects.

There were also four exhibitions from Aeromet, Women in Aviation Charter,

System Store Solutions and TT Electronics plus an ATI help desk. The event

attracted approximately 100 attendees and everybody had an interesting and

enjoyable day. The event was filmed by FINN.

FAC Annual Networking Dinner & Conference.

The FAC Annual Conference and Exhibition is the next big event in the FAC calendar. This year we will be holding the event at the Elvetham Hotel in Hartley Wintney on 21st November. It is a lovely prestigious hotel with a great reputation. We are well underway with the preparations for this year’s event and have secured speakers from leading aerospace organisations such as Safran, Airbus, Gulfstream, Reaction Engines, GE Aviation and many more to be confirmed. This year we are holding a dinner the night before the conference and have some great packages for dinner, bed & breakfast plus conference. As usual we have a great array of sponsorship packages and if you are interested in any of these please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Government official visits local aerospace firm to see

how it's benefitting from LEP funding

This month, Alex Aiken, the Executive Director for Government

Communications, came to Southampton to meet with a small

business that has benefited from local government funding via the

Solent LEP.

Gulfstream Operations now under way at Farnborough

Gulfstream Aerospace Cor has begun operations at TAG Farnborough Airport by offering aircraft line maintenance from a hangar on-site.

Announced in May 2018, the MRO is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2020 and will serve Gulfstream’s main resource for customers in the London area, Europe’s busiest Business aviation hug.
