BIO.RITMI is a masterplan of a mixed-use (residencial/cultural) urban area. The cosy town of Tricase (lecce, Italy) covers a large territory bounded by the Serra del Mirto up to 110 meters above the sea level. Tricase is one of the towns of the so-called region of the greenhouses that thanks to the beneficial proximity of the sea, is characterized by a mild, temperate climate, typical of the Mediterranean area. The design approach develops a masterplan focused on bioclimatic solutions to exploit the climatic potential of the area. The site analysis and the accurate study of the environmental factors, allows a calibrated settlement solution, to guarantee and maximize the natural light and ventilation ammount in the buildings.
The compositive and distributive solution is inspired by local references (types, materials) and bioclimatic setting, to improve the energy efficiency and comfort. The relation-ship between interior and exterior spaces configures a patio type, matched to a passer-by-type with a back garden between contiguous houses. The articulation of the typo-logical solutions (inspired by the traditional Mediterranean housing) generates a Bio.rhythm of open/closed spaces and a compact settlement system that ensures energy efficiency and low-tech bioclimatic performances.
The building typologies are designed to ensure the maximum environmental comfort and spaces quality:• reference to the traditional local architecture;• bioclimatic setting related to the area;• flexibilty and variety of indoor and outoor spaces;• use of typical native vegetal species for the landscape design.

Oz-one is an architectural and energy retrofit intervention aiming a site-specific industrial symbiosis for a fish farm focused on tropical species, located in the industrial area of Settimo Torinese (Turin). The breeding activity requires a high consumption of resources (water and electricity) and the work space structure (a shed constructed of precast concrete slabs) is unfit for this highly energy-intensive framework. The first step of the project concerns a detailed energy audit to identify the critical phases of the work-pro-cess:1. The electric energy consumption quote is related to heat the water;2. The water used for breeding is contaminated by antibiotics and is disposed as industrial waste.
- Last but not least, the acquisition of financial resources and volumetric incentives to achieving energy efficiency in building construction, provided by the public authori-ties.The design concept aims to re-naturalize this piece of industrial area in the northwest of Italy, evoking a mud and crystal grotesque, using a circular process approach for the symbiotic use of resources and processing waste, according to a closed input-output diagram.
- Bio-climatic greenhouse (clay, straw and glass) -> for heat gaining and workspace optimization; - Stabilized (straw) clay insulation (internal and external) -> to optimize the heat exchange and for the psychomet-ric control of the indoor comfort;- Use of renewable resources (photovoltaic and solar ther-mal panels, wind turbine) -> decrease the consumption of fossil energy sources;- Re-use of water for green-rooftop irrigation -> to decrease the consumption of water and industrial waste production;- Use of natural materials (clay, straw and wood) in the design approach -> best comfort and lower indoor pollu-tion (volatile organic component).
- The second step is the bio-climatic anal-ysis of the building, to identify the features related to the use of available site-specific resources (sun irradiation, natural ventilation and lighting) and to face the critical points concerning the human comfort and energy performance of the structure:3.The building envelope system is inef-fective to provide the isolation and to control the heat exchange;4.The indoor habitat is heavily uncom-fortable, due to a high humidity caused by the water heating.

R-Urban is a project facing the challenge of a sustainable social housing. The aim of the project concerns the design of a residential area with a low environmental footprint. The project concept is oriented to a tangible approach, to assure the feasibility of the proposal. The bioclimatic approach is setted on the three scopes related to sustainability: social - environmental - economic
The architecture topic is conformed to fit several issues:#living spaces#cohesion to the context#engineering solutions for energy saving (solar shields, water reuse, pv and st panels)#integration of green pedestrian and cycle routes #integration of technologies related to the use of renewable resources#comfort

FAB LAB BOLOGNA is a makerspace created in Bologna (ITALY).
Fab Lab Bologna is a creative space for budding product designers and entrepreneurs to test out their ideas and bring them to life. The open access Lab offers the latest in digital fabrication equipment along with a friendly atmosphere where everyone can build, code, solder, design and engineer pretty much anything they can think of.The Lab is equipped with a range of fabrication tools including laser cutters, 3D printers, traditional hand tools (saws, drills, hammers, chisels etc) and CNC machines.
TThe Lab will provide three core services 1. Shared workspace for schools, colleges & individuals to work and develop ideas 2. Skills development and technology education through events & workshops 3. A business accelerator, translating innovative concepts into businesses
The mission as a Fab Lab is to provide access to the tools, the knowledge and the financial means to educate, innovate and invent using technology and digital fabrication to allow anyone to make (almost) anything, and thereby creating opportunities to improve the urban life. Community organizations, educational institutions and non-profit concerns are the primary beneficiaries.
FAB LAB BOLOGNA is a project co-designed by Fabrizio Latrofa in collaboration with Ass.ne MakeinBo - 1st prize of Incredibol2013 Regional call for creative innovation

E-VasO is a robotic vase provided with legs and sensors, able to move in the environment and transport the hosted plant , to search for the best light and humidity conditions. e-vaso is able to move thanks to 18 small motors pow-ered by rechargeable LiPo 11.1 Volt. It can carry a maximum weight of 2 Kg. the robot intelligence is implemented through Arduino microcontroller, which allows autonomous motion control. A system of sensors capable of probing the 'moisture and light, provides the data to an algorithm able to calculate the displacements to find the best climatic condition. The robot can be controlled radio with Bluetooth technology, from computers, smart phone or Android tablet. see more at http://www.fablabbologna.org/attivita/e-vaso/
