FPSC Board Spotlight

On...

T H E P E L I C A N P I P E L I N E

Hello to our fabulous FPSC membership! I can hardly believe another board year has nearly come and gone. This is my third year serving on the board for the FPSC and I can tell you there has been no other organization that I have been a part of during our time at Fort Polk that allowed me a better opportunity to get involved, make new friends, and gain insight in to this wonderful community we have. Serving on the Spouses Club Board can seem intimidating to some, but you won't be alone! We have a wonderful team of advisors who are there to support and encourage you as you guide the FPSC into the next year. You will also have other board members to collaborate with and learn from. Together you will all help build upon an organization that offers friendship, service, and support for other Spouses and organizations in our community. If you are PCSing this year, or if you have other commitments that won't allow you to serve on the board, think about other friends you know who might be a great fit. The network of Army spouses is vast. Who's on their way here? Who have you noticed at events going the extra mile? Encourage them to reach out and apply! We are currently accepting nominations for our Executive Board officers (President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer) who will be presented to our membership at our March social on March 23rd. At that time, we will allow for any other nominations to be presented from the floor. Biographies of each nominee will be posted to our website and then we will vote for our new Exec board in April. All applications, along with a short bio and photograph are due to the Parliamentarian no later than Friday, March 20th. You can email me at [email protected] for more information.

A Note from the 2nd Vice President… Hello everyone! Crazy to think that the club year is half way through. I’m

so enjoying “socializing” with all of you and look forward to our March,

April, and May Socials. I’ve got some fun stuff planned and a few

surprises up my sleeve. Our January Social and Mystery Envelope

fundraiser was an epic success! THANK YOU! I’d also like to thank our

kind donors, Kendra Scott-Baton Rouge, April Bofferding (Noonday

Collection) & Tarcela Knight (Stella & Dot), for your gorgeous pieces. On

a personal note, I’d like to send a BIG shout out to our decorating

committee. I couldn’t bring these gorgeous socials together without your

style and help every month. Here’s to all of you in 2020!!

Casey Black, 2nd Vice President

January Community Partner: Vernon Parish Animal Shelter

I am always amazed with how giving our Fort Polk Spouses Club community is! In January we raised money and donated items for the Vernon Parish Animal Shelter. We had bags of dog food, cans of cat food, metal bowls, toys, cat litter, cleaning supplies, etc. donated! My husband and I always joke (he jokes, but I’m serious) that I will someday own a farm for all the animals I want to rescue but as we all know military life doesn’t allow such a lifestyle, so until then, doing things like collecting donations for the local animal shelter will have to do. Thank you for making January so special with all of your donations.
