Other things to note about LE/LA:
Before H:
Le/La becomes “L’”: L’herbe, l’heure
BUT-
Les stays “Les”: Les herbes, les heures
NOTE-Un/Une/Des does NOT change:
Un habitant, Une histoire, Des haricots verts (there’s no apostrophe)
![Page 6: F 2 GRAMMAR REVIEW A. Definite/indefinite articles B. Negative of Un/une/Des C. Subject pronouns D. Contractions E. Jouer + À or De F. Possession with](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062511/551d9d7d497959293b8b4708/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
What if the sentence is negative? PAS DE!
In a negative sentence, the Un, Une become De (d’) after PAS! Examples:
1. J’ai un ordinateur mais ma soeur n’a pas d’ordinateur.
2. J’ai un livre, mais je n’ai pas de stylos!
![Page 7: F 2 GRAMMAR REVIEW A. Definite/indefinite articles B. Negative of Un/une/Des C. Subject pronouns D. Contractions E. Jouer + À or De F. Possession with](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062511/551d9d7d497959293b8b4708/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
ENCORE DE “PAS DE” plurals & vowels!
J’ai des amis en France. Je n’ai pas d’amis ici.
(I have some friends in France, but I don’t have ANY friends here!)
J’ai des haricots ici, mais je n’ai pas d’haricots verts.
(I have some beans here, but not ANY green beans)
AFTER PAS USE De or D’! !!YOU NEVER SAY: “ PAS +UN +UNE+DES”
(Except with ÊTRE) see exception…..
![Page 8: F 2 GRAMMAR REVIEW A. Definite/indefinite articles B. Negative of Un/une/Des C. Subject pronouns D. Contractions E. Jouer + À or De F. Possession with](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062511/551d9d7d497959293b8b4708/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)

HOW DO THE “ER” Verbs WORK?
When one “Conjugates” a verb, one is putting it a subject with a verb-together correctly in the tense needed. In English, we say:
JE- I verb, am verbing, do verb TU-You verb, are verbing, do verbIL-He verbs, NOUS-We verb, VOUS-
You (all) verb, ILS-They verb etc.

THIS! You take the whole verb (the infinitive----for ex.: Parler), and take off the “ER”. WHY? ‘Cuz it’s an ER Verb!!!!!
THEN,you add the following endings:
Je=E Nous=ONS
Tu=ES Vous=EZ
Il/elle/on=E Ils/Elles=ENT
