Each kit contains a class set of generic, durable and versatileoptical experimental components for a class of 25-30students. This is supported by a didactic frameworkconsisting of worksheets, factsheets, teacher guides andmultimedia material. The Photonics Explorer is specifically designed to integrateinto, enhance and complement existing European secondaryschool science curricula. 25 European Local AssociatedPartners of EYESTvzw are distributing the kits, in conjunctionwith teacher training courses.Over 2500 kits currently distributed EU wide reaching over125.000 students every year! The Photonics Explorer is available in Bulgarian, Czech,Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Italian,Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish!
An intra-curricular photonics kit designed for lower andupper secondary school students across Europe.

The Educational Modules
Lower secondary level (12-14 years)• Light signals – the properties of light and its
use in telecommunication• Colours – colour perception, additive and
subtractive colour mixing • Lenses and telescopes – refraction and
imaging• Eye and vision – comparison between human
eyes and digital cameras, learning about accommodation in the eye
Upper secondary level (16-18 years)• Making light – comparing different light
sources, laser• Polarisation – applications in displays and life
sciences• Diffraction and interference – diffraction on a
slit, spectrometry• A scientist’s job – encouraging esp. young
women to pursue careers in science and engineering
