3. Conn ect ions

The following control sequence is used for a single and multiple monitors that are daisy-chained

together please use the standard command. When using the following control commands, all of

th e daisy-cha ined monitors can be contr olled at t he sa me time from one monitor. Reply an d st at us

comm an ds, however, will only perta in t o the pr imar y monitor, not seconda ry monit ors.

1) Connector pin assignment

: Seria l port (RS-232C) connector.

See the specifications of the equipment that is to be connected for the type of connector and the

pin assignment.

3) Wiring

Use a crossed (reverse) cable.

Wire t he cable so th at each pair of dat a lines cross between th e two devices.

These data line pairs are RXD and TXD, and RTS and CTS.

4) Hardware connection into the monitor

Pleas e refer t o the following block diagra m.

TXD SW is n ormally “on” . When CPU sen d TXD dat a, SW is “off ” .

If th e “IR CONTROL” function is selected “SECANDARY” by the menu,

SW is fixed “off ”.

This system ha s 2 kind of CPU, one is a Sta nd-by CPU, another is Main CPU.

When Sta nd-by stat e, Stand-by CPU works, but , Main CPU is dead.

The Sta nd-by CPU changes the sett ing when changing power stat us from Stan d-by to ON.

(2) Message block format

“Message block format” is allied to th e “Message Type” in th e “Header”.

Refer t o the s ection 6 “Message forma t” for m ore detail.

The cont roller sends t his message when you want to get th e sta tus of the monitor.

For th e stat us t ha t you wan t t o get, specify the “OP code pa ge” and “OP code”,

refer t o “Table 5)-1 Operat ion code ta ble”.

The monit or will reply with th e sta tu s of th e request ed item sp ecified by the cont roller

in the “Get par ameter message”.

“Message form at ” of th e “Get paramet er reply” is a s follows,

2nd - 3 rd bytes) Result code.

These bytes indicate a resu lt of th e request ed comma nds as follows,

00h: No Er ror.

01h: Unsupported operat ion with t his monitor or unsu pported operation un der

current condition.

This r esult code from t he m onitor is encoded t o ASCII char acters.

ASCII CR(0Dh).

3) Cont rol sequence

(1) The comm an d from a pers onal comput er to th e plasma monitor will ta ke 600msec.

(2) The plasm a monit or will send a ret ur n comm an d 600msec(*) after it h as r eceived an encode. If

th e comma nd isn ’t r eceived correctly, the plasm a monitor will not send t he ret ur n comm an d.

(3) The personal computer checks the command and confirms if the command which has been

sent has been execut ed or n ot.

(4) This plasma monitor sends various codes other than the code. When sending a control

sequence via RS-232C, other codes from per sonal compu ter s will be ignored.

* : The sending time of the return command may be delayed depending on the monitor ’s

cur rent activity (cha nging of th e inpu t signa l, etc.).
