Administrative Relationship: The Extension Specialist, 4-H Youth Development is administratively responsible to the Assistant Dean and Director, 4-H Youth Development, and is a member of the State 4-H Office staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:Required: Master’s degree with significant coursework in a discipline or program related to youth development, education or a related field. Candidates with a Master’s degree in progress may be considered for interviews, but degree must be completed by hire date. Experience designing culturally relevant programs for underserved youth audiences including racial, ethnic and linguistic minorities. Evidence of cross cultural competency. Bilingualism - a demonstrated fluency in English and at least one other language. Knowledge of experiential learning and positive youth development.

Extension Specialist, 4-H Youth Development

Experience building and working within cross-institution partnerships. Evidence of strong oral and in written communication skills. Evidence of strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Preferred: Ph.D. in a discipline or program related to youth development, education or a related field. Proficiency in Spanish language preferred. Subject matter knowledge to support youth-focused programs in one of the 4-H target areas, including health, performing and expressive arts, leadership, horticulture or the environment. Experience working with youth in out-of-school / after-school settings. Experience providing professional development and training for adults. Experience with program evaluation. Demonstrated ability to write, manage and fulfill grant and special project requirements. Experience with translation of documents and related federal regulations for accessibility of LEP audiences. Flexibility, resiliency, and the ability to operate with minimal guidance.
