Extension Specialist, 4-H Youth Development

POSITION OVERVIEWThe Extension Specialist, 4-H Youth Development, Minority Youth Engagement and Partnership Development will lead partnership development and culturally relevant program strategies to provide positive youth development experiences for under-served and under-represented youth in Illinois. This position serves as a regular, full-time, 12-month academic professional with primary responsibility for providing leadership to the 4-H Youth Development Program delivered through University of Illinois Extension staff and offices throughout the state. This position will integrate 4-H program leadership, partnership, scholarship, and public engagement into its everyday practice. Working in collaboration with Extension faculty, staff and partners, this position will lead and consult on applied research, collaboration with diverse stakeholders, program design for youth, and training efforts aimed at enhancing the capacities of adults working with youth.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Administrative Relationship: The Extension Specialist, 4-H Youth Development is administratively responsible to the Assistant Dean and Director, 4-H Youth Development, and is a member of the State 4-H Office staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:Required: Master’s degree with significant coursework in a discipline or program related to youth development, education or a related field. Candidates with a Master’s degree in progress may be considered for interviews, but degree must be completed by hire date. Experience designing culturally relevant programs for underserved youth audiences including racial, ethnic and linguistic minorities. Evidence of cross cultural competency. Bilingualism - a demonstrated fluency in English and at least one other language. Knowledge of experiential learning and positive youth development.
