If you want to pursue a career in Art & Design and have not completed high school, this two year programme of study is the route for you and is essential if you want to study Art & Design at degree level.
In the first year, you will develop your drawing skills through compulsory Visual Studies, Life Drawing and Contextual Studies as well as develop your basic skills and understanding of Art & Design through the creative process of 2D and 3D design, as well as lens based media.
In year two, you will pick three subjects to study over a rotational period. You will also consider which university you wish to apply to and you are supported and advised by lecturers whilst making your university UCAS applications. At the end of this term you will have an introduction to your specialist area.
Over the second term you will continue to focus in your specialist area, develop your portfolio, ready for university interviews. The third term is all about your final major project. As part of this you will also complete a journal which is a reflection and evaluation of your work. At the end of term, we will celebrate your achievements by holding an exhibition of student work, publishing a graphics magazine or staging a fashion show.

TEAchING & ASSESSmENTWork is assessed formally at the end of each term as well as at the end of every project. You will be measured on performance, preparation and attitude. The first term’s assessments are used to help determine your area of specialisation. You and your tutor will complete project assessments against the key criteria for each project and will then decide collaboratively your aims for the next stage of the course. The assessments at the end of the second and third terms contribute towards your final grade. The end-of-year assessment is moderated by two external assessors from University of the Arts London Awarding Body.
