Your opportunity QUT is calling for Expressions of Interest from outstanding, external researchers who are considering applying for an Australian Research Council Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) or Future Fellowship Award, for submission in November 2020 and commencement in 2022.

Selected applicants will have the opportunity to partner with leading academics, receive guidance and mentoring on how to develop their application for DECRA or Future Fellowship to optimise the quality of their submission. The opportunity will enable networking with senior academics working in your field and broader career coaching.

If your DECRA or Future Fellowship application is successfully granted, the existing relationships you have formed with QUT will support you as you commence your grant funded research position, helping to set you up for success.

For the duration of your position at QUT, you will be mentored to develop your performance and effectiveness as an academic. You will also have access to a number of programs, such as QUTs’ accelerated leadership program, which involves individual coaching, to support your career development. QUT’s supportive and proactive environment aims to provide you with the best opportunity to be competitive for continuing positions at QUT, or elsewhere, at the conclusion of your fellowship.

We will offer assistance to applicants whose work is aligned with our goal to undertake world-leading research in:

• the design, synthesis, characterisation and study of the properties of materials

• determining structure/function relationships for materials, with the aim of advancing our development of technologies

• in situ measurements of nanoscale processes

• ultrafast phenomena, particularly with respect to light/matter interactions

• instrumentation and technique development for elucidating novel physics

Our structured, expert assistance covers all aspects of the DECRA/Future Fellowship application, including alignment of track record and project, concept, disciplinary contribution, method, impact and benefit, and budget.

Your employment in the event of a successful Grant application

Subject to successfully obtaining DECRA grant funding (with QUT), an appointment as a Postdoctoral Fellow (Academic LEVA-B) would be offered on a three (3) year fixed-term, full-time basis for the duration of the grant, subject to Australian work rights being granted (if applicable).
