CREYA CLASSES AT KASIGA
Kasiga School has now introduced Creya XELprogram to equip the students for the future.Creya XEL is India’s most recognised hands-on‘Learning and Design Thinking Program’
for students. Science Technology Engineering& Math (STEM) or STEAM (arts included)is on top of the list of every progressiveschool.
As part of this programme:Grade 3 students explored various mathematical concepts including data collection and symmetryusing building bricks.Grade 4 students built models based on simple machines which make our work easier.Grade 5 students completed their first CREYA project which was based on simple pulleys. Thestudents designed their simple pulleys and demonstrated their cognitive as well as motor skills. Thestudents found the classes very exciting and enriching.Grade 6 students enhanced their knowledge of simple machines by building machines that utilizemodifications of the ‘worm gear’.Grade 7 students built models that integrate different forms of power transfer.Grade 8 students explored the concepts involved in gear overdrive and reduction.
LABOUR DAY CELEBRATED
The 1st of May, every year, provides us with an opportunity to recognize the efforts and dedication of
our Class IV staff members. Their contributions are very significant for the smooth functioning of our
school and its facilities, which we experience on an everyday basis.
Hence, as a gesture of Thanksgiving, the school planned a special programme for all our Class IV
staff members which included Gift Distribution and a Special Lunch.

VISIT TO THE DEHRADUN ZOO
The students of Science Club went to the Dehradun Zoo on 5th May, 2018. The students learnt about
the wildlife species, varieties of birds and fishes and also the importance of ecological balance by
watching a 3D movie on dinosaurs.
CLOSING CEREMONY OF SPORTS CAMP 2018-19
The Summer Sports Camp at Kasiga School culminated in a closing ceremony organized on the 19th of
May, 2018. The programme was graced by the presence of the Chairman, Mr. Ramesh Batta, the
Director Finance, Mr. Siddharth Batta, the Head of School, Mrs. Sonali Sinha and the Deputy Head of
School, Mr. Chandra Shekhar Yadav.
Several eminent coaches from all over India, who had facilitated the working of the camp, were
present at this event. Mr. Rajkumar, who has received the Dronacharya Award and has been the
coach of Virat Kohli, was felicitated on this occasion.
The Chairman, in his speech, highlighted the importance of a Guru in all walks of life. He stated that
this sports camp is his vision and opined that sports inculcate important values of discipline,
collaboration and fair play. Students shared their experiences of the sports camp and expressed how
enjoyable and enriching it had been for them. The camp has ignited their passion for the games they
play.
Some students received prizes for their outstanding performances in the sports camp : Devang
Maheshwari and Adarsh Bhusan in Table Tennis, Abhinav Acharya and Ritika Singh in Tennis, Nishant
Chauhan and Sonam Drema in Soccer, Akash Saraogi and Nishchit Bhatia in Cricket, Moosa Azhari and
Aiman Singh Sandhu in Shooting, Aman Goel and Praveen Budhania in Athletics, Sanidhya Pandey
and Kipa Mangming in Swimming and Yuvraj Behl and Udayan Mandal in Basketball. Om Rawat was
given a special prize, on the recommendation of the Chief Coach, for his feat in athletics.
Mr. Rajkumar addressed the audience and spoke of his close association with the school. Hereminded the students how lucky they were that Kasiga not only places a high premium on Cricketbut also creates a conducive environment for other sports to thrive. He congratulated the school onthe success of the camp.

JUNIOR AND SUB JUNIOR UTTARAKHAND SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP
It was a proud moment for the Kasiga family that our school swimmers, Preeya Patel, Shreesh Bakshi,Harshit Dalal and Sanidhya Pandey, participated in the Junior and Sub-Junior Uttarakhand SwimmingChampionship organised by the Uttarakhand Swimming Association, held at the Sports Stadium,Haldwani on 23 May, 2018. Our new swimming star Peeya Patel won 4 gold medals in the Sub-Juniorcategory. She also participated in the Sub-Junior Nationals held at the Chhatrapati Shivaji SportsComplex Pune, from 24th June to 29th June 2018, organised by the Swimming Federation of India. Sheis the first girl to have represented the Uttarakhand State in the 35th Sub Junior Nationals. We hopePreeya will continue to bring accolades to herself, her school and her state in the future.
PPSA SCHOOLS SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP
Our school participated in the 1st PPSA Schools Swimming Championship and won 30 medals (10
Gold 14 Silver and 6 Bronze) in different age categories.

INTERNATIONAL SHOOTING CHAMPIONSHIP
Kasiga’s Yash Agarwal has been selected for Indian Team trials for shooting. Yash Aggarwal competed in two International championships: International Shooting Championship at Hannover and 49th
Grand Prix of Liberation at Prague. In these Championships, Yash shot his personal best and qualified for the Indian Shooting Team trials which is a great achievement.

INTER HOUSE POSTER/BANNER MAKING COMPETITION
The Green School Committee organized the Inter-House Poster/Banner Making Competition on the 14thof July, 2018. The competition was divided into three categories: Junior, Middle and Senior. The themesfor this competition were related to their course work as well as to the environmental problems.Juniors made simple and very meaningful posters on the theme of 4 R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle andRefuse. The Middle School students displayed enthusiasm about the theme “Go green and sustainabilityof renewable and non- renewable resources”. On the other hand, the Senior School students appliedtheir intelligence and creativity to manage garbage recycling and beat plastic pollution. The studentswere sensitized towards the various environmental issues and learnt the significance of sustainabledevelopment.
11TH FOUNDER’S DAY
The 11th Founder’s Day was celebrated at Kasiga School on the 8th of July, 2018. The Chief Guest forthe occasion was Dr Bhupendra Kaur Aulakh, the Secretary of Education, Sports and Youth WelfareDepartment, Government of Uttarakhand.
The Chief-Guest, in her speech, expressed her appreciation at the myriad accomplishments of theschool in the fields of academics and sports. She urged the students to respect their parents andteachers and minimize the use of plastic.
The honourable Chairman Mr. Ramesh Batta spoke of his determination and an inner voice which had egged him on to establish this amazing school against all odds. He urged the students to be honest and morally upright human beings. A number of teaching and administrative staff were felicitated for their unwavering devotion and long years of service to the school.

INTER HOUSE GENERAL KNOWLEDGE QUIZ
To stimulate in students the thirst for knowledge and awareness of the activities around them, ‘THE
BRAIN TWISTER’, an Inter-House General Knowledge Quiz was organized by the Junior Wing of Kasiga
School on 14th July 2018 in the Cambridge Hall.
The eight finalists were selected for the quiz through a written qualifying round. The four teams
comprising Amazon, Nile, Pacific and Everest House vied for the Winner and Runners up prize in a cut
throat competition.
The quiz consisted of five rounds: the General Awareness Round; the Mixed Bag Round, consisting of
subject based questions; Scientific Minds Round based on knowledge of Science; the Audio Visual
Round based on the audio and visual clips shown to the participants and the last and deciding, the
Rapid Fire Round. The quiz was won by Malcolm Goshal and Ozaswa Parashar of Nile House, while
Aditya Shankar and Sambudha De of Amazon House were declared the Runners up.
The participants from Pacific House were Labh Kumar and Tanmay Tyagi, while Shagun Balodi and
Jagrit Nayan were the participants from Everest House. The event was graced by the School Advisors
Mrs Mali Kumar and Mr Nanda Kumar and the Deputy Head of School Mr Chandra Shekhar Yadav.
All the teams performed very well and put up a great show. It was a thoroughly enjoyable event as
well as a great learning experience.
HUMANITIES DEPARTMENT – MAP QUIZ
The Humanities Department conducted a unique quiz unlike other popular quizzes known as the‘MAP QUIZ’.
This was primarily an Inter House competition for the Middle School where-in the enthusiasm shownby the students had to be seen to be believed. The three rounds that encompassed the quiz were:1. Location Round 2. Word Search Round and 3. MCQ Round.
The participants were well-prepared and all set to make their houses proud. The final result of the quizwas as follows:First position – Nile House, Second Position – Everest House, Third Position – Amazon House, FourthPosition – Pacific House.The three anchors of the event also deserve a special mention for the confidence and flair with whichthey conducted the quiz – Mansi Sharma (Grade 7B), Uday Singh (Grade 8A) and Kabir Singh (Grade9C).
The Humanities Department is committed towards involving students and invoking in them a moreholistic understanding of the world, by coming up with more such programmes that generate interestin a subject as varied and vast as Social Studies.

INTER HOUSE MUSIC COMPETITION
Orsino in Shakespeare’s ‘Twelfth Night’ once said, “If music be the food of love, play on….’’. On the21st of July, 2018, music did play on in the Inter House Music Competition till it made every musiclover automatically tap their feet and hum a tune or two.
The much awaited competition consisted of 5 categories: the Rock Band, Hindustani Vocals, TablaRecital, Solo Dance and Group Dance. The event started with Pacific House performing ‘21 Guns’ byGreen Day. This was followed by Nile House performing ‘It’s My Life’ by Bon Jovi. Amazon Houseperformed the song ‘Zombie’ while Everest House regaled everyone by performing ‘Lazourus’ by thePorcupine Tree.
It was time for a change of flavour which was provided by the performances in the Hindustani vocalcategory. Amazon House performed ‘Rag Bhopali’ while Everest House performed ‘Rag Alhiya Bilawal’,a morning raga. Nile House performed Rag Khamaj. The last performance was the one by PacificHouse who performed ‘Malkus Rag’.
This was followed by the third category ‘tabla’ which enthralled one and all. All Houses gave soloperformances which comprised of ‘kaida paltas and thehai’ and also played ‘teen taal’.In spite of all the performances which swayed the audience, one could not but admit that the best wassaved for the last. The last two categories were those of solo and group dance. The solo performanceshad everybody off their seats and were applauded with deafening cheering and extravagant clapping.The icing on the cake was the group dance performances (ADAGIO) by all the houses. The 4 housesperformed on the following themes--- Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Bollywood, Rajasthani and Bhangra.
It was a closely contested competition, to say the least. In the Rock Band category, Everest Housebagged the first prize, followed closely by Nile House who stood second. Amazon and Pacific Housewere placed third. In the Hindustani Vocal category, Pacific House bagged the first prize while Everest,Nile and Amazon House stood second, third and fourth respectively. In tabla, Amazon House stoodfirst while Everest, Pacific and Nile stood second, third and fourth. In the Solo Dance category, Amazonagain stood first followed closely by Everest who stood second. Pacific and Nile stood third and fourth.In the Group Dance category, Everest stood first followed by Amazon, Pacific and Nile who stoodsecond, third and fourth respectively.Everest won the overall championship with 604 points while Amazon and Pacific stood second andthird with 589 and 535 points respectively.
