As we retire for a restful vacation, the School pre-pares to write a new episode in its journey; to

learn, grow, experience and share. A broad spectrum of academic, co-curricular and pastoral arrange-ments are on a steady move. Come July and Kāsiga vibrates with a new rhythm of learning experience, a forward-looking education that promises to forge one’s identity in a significant manner so that learning becomes much more fulfilling, comprehensive and enjoyable. “Thank You for the Music”

The evening of the 13th of May, 2014 was defi-nitely a musical feast for the Kāsigans when at 6.30 pm the Music Presentation-2014 com-

menced. The programme began with Classes IV and V singing an Indian Classical number followed by Class VI with their specially-composed song for the School. No wonder with so many Avril Lavigne fans at Kāsiga, Tejaswanie and Ridhima would sing to a tune of ‘Hush Hush.’ The Choir then rendered some legendary numbers, such as, ‘One way ticket’ by Neil Sedaka and ‘Top of the world’ by evergreen Carpen-ters. Pristina, Tejaswanie, Sarvesha tuned on to a Ne-pali folk song. If the Indian Music had played to our souls, it was the Western Music that stole the show. The Central Courtyard was rocked by Classes VII and VIII with their heart-throbbing musical collaboration of Indian and Western instruments – tabla and har-monium with drumbeats and guitar strums produced a beautiful synchrony of melodic fusion-delight. The crowd continued to be entertained by Ananya Chan-dok, Kasish Oberoi and Sarvesha Thapa with a Pop song, ‘Little me’ by Little Mix. Lastly, Class XII Boys, Stephen and Raunak in vocals with Aman and Arav at the drums regaled the audience into the fading light of the evening. Their power-packed performance was a real show-stopper. Directed entirely by the Kāsiga Music School, the Presentation was truly refreshing and rejuvenat-ing and was a perfect demonstration of our passion for cultural pursuits. Long after the Programme was over, we still bore the lilts in our hearts and cherished the moments with glee and gladness.

Braving the BlueSwimming Gala-2014

As the heat continued to sizzle us, the swim-mers at Kāsiga enjoyed

a perfect escape on the 16th of May, 2014. The afternoon saw the crowd hurrying towards the Swimming Pool to occupy an early seat under the sham-iyana. With the sun shining bright and wind against our faces, it seemed that nature, too, was excited to witness the much-awaited Swimming Gala, 2014. With sixteen events al-together, from 25 metre Free Style to 50 metre Free Style and 25 metre Back Stroke to 50 metre Back Stroke for both Boys’ and Girls’ culminating to 4X25 metre Free Style Re-lay, the Gala had definitely eclipsed the monotony of Extra Classes and the excitement of holidays. With the water splashing and the crowd cheering, perfect strokes breaking waters and bodies swerving in blue, we had witnessed a perfect symmetry of muscle and mettle. Uday Sharma, of Classes 11 and 12 Category, bagged the prize of the Best Swimmer, followed by Pranav Shukla as the Runner-up. In the Classes 9 and 10 Category, Atin Bharti claimed the First Position and Karish Maskey came Second. In the Classes 7 and 8 Category, Monthon came First while in Classes 4 and 5 Category, Kim was the Winner. In Girls’ Open Category, Annie Shrivastav was declared the Best Swimmer.

PANORAMAArt Exhibition

The Art and Design Lab of Kāsiga was transformed into an art gallery for the calendared display on the

15th of May, 2014.

‘Panorama,’ –The Art & Craft Exhibition was open for all to see on the occasion of the Parent-Teacher

Meetings. A humble beginning of what is hoped to be a continuous effort in the days to come, of showcasing

the Art & Craft works of pupils executed during the Semester.

On offer were paintings and monochromes done by some artists of the Junior, Middle and Senior sec-

tions. An assortment of unbaked clay items including pinch work, coil work, slab work and tiles were on view.

The viewers could also see ‘thrown’ pots fashioned into animal shapes.

There were paper bags, paper pouches, windmills and paper balls placed on display in the Craft section

as well as a few hand-decorated pots.

We earnestly hope that this exhibition will encourage and motivate the artists on campus to further

give vent to their creative expression in their medium of choice. With the blessings of one and all as well as the

hard work and single-mindedness of purpose of pupils and teachers, one hopes that the Art School grows from

strength to strength in the near future. ~Mrs. Trina Chatterji

The beautiful sun, the blue sea, and to sum it up, the beautiful view. The mountains are looking amazing covered with the colour orange. The colour of fire is reflecting on the clouds and the shimmering water. It is

my dream to see this and sit right there enjoy and see the sunset. You get to see this view once in a blue moon. The ball of fire is coming down, getting darker and darker. The orange light of the sun is reflecting everywhere. I have seen the sun rising but the best view is to see the sunset. The sky was getting clearer and clearer. My dream has come true to see the sunset. The beauty of the sunset is over. The golden ball of fire is gone, now it’s time for the stars to come. Tomorrow is another day and a new beginning .

What is a Boy?

Between the innocence of talcum-powdered and toothless smiles of babyhood and the acquired

swagger of youth lies a delightful and irritating crea-ture called a boy. They come in all sizes, weights, co-lour, caste and creed but all boys have one thing in common; that is to enjoy themselves every minute of every hour with a deadly weapon called NOISE. They are found everywhere; usually under your feet, in your hair, out of class and in all those places where they have no business to be. Mothers love them, little girls adore them, classmates date them, old-er brothers tolerate them and heavens protect them. A boy is an amazing combination, he has the appetite of a horse, digestion of a fire-eater, energy of a pocket-sized atom bomb, curiosity of a cat, lungs of a dictator, shyness of a shrinking violet, enthusiasm

of a firecracker and fearlessness of a kamikaze pilot! Teachers hold them responsible for high blood pressure, receding hair lines, grey hair, weight gain, headaches and other assorted ailments. He is a miracle. You cannot lock him out of your heart or get him out of your mind. May his tribe increase.

It has been said that there is a very fine line be-tween plagiarism and inspiration, so I have to let the readers know that I got the idea from an arti-cle that I read a couple of months ago. Unfortunate-ly, I cannot remember either the magazine or the writer for the simple reason that I was ‘zoning out’ having been injected for a painful tooth extraction!
