The Animation & Visual Effects program prepares students for careers in visual effects, animation, and emerging appli-cations for 3-D visualization. Students learn the fundamentals of design, art, and animation. They then apply this knowledge to 3-D modeling, character animation, motion capture, texture and lighting, compositing, character rigging, and dynamic effects. Students gain experiential knowledge through extensive lab time using multiple hardware platforms. Many classrooms and labs have a one-to-one (student-to-machine) ratio enabling students to develop skills in contemporary software, such as Autodesk Maya and MotionBuilder, RenderMan,AdobePhotoshop,Nuke,AfterEffects,FinalCutPro,Mudbox,PF Track, andZbrush.

The Game Art & Design program prepares students for careers in video game art design, production, and development. The program focuses on three key areas: a strong fine arts core, interactive theory and design fundamentals, and the profes-sional pipeline experience. As students produce assets that interact with dynamic 3-D environments, they learn necessary skills in design, asset creation, environ-mental design, character design in playable worlds, and graphical scripting focused to familiarize students with key processes of game creation. These skills prepare graduates to be junior members of a professional production team.
Although the Game Art & Design curriculum is centered on the Unreal engine, students also learn the funda-mentals to understand key concepts used in other engines. Software tools include programs such as Adobe Creative Suites, Autodesk Maya, CrazyBump, Motion-Builder, Vicon motion capture systems, Mudbox, and Zbrush.
