Warranty and Product Information Exposio Technologies Inc. warrants this hardware product against defect in material and workmanship for a period of ONE (1) YEAR from the date of the original retail purchase. If a defect exists, Exposio Technologies at its option, will exchange the product with a product that is new or has been manufactured as new from serviceable used parts and is at least functionally equivalent to the original product. A replacement product / parts assumes the remaining warranty of the original product, or ninety (90) days from the date of replacement, whichever provides the longest coverage for you. When a product or part is exchanged, any replacement item(s) becomes your property and the replaced item(s) becomes the property of Exposio Technologies Inc. For Your Safety To prevent damage to the 1-Click Kit and Exposio Trigger and/or personal injury to yourself, please read and observe the following important security precautions. Do not disassemble the unit This unit is a complex electronic device and contains no user-serviceable parts except the battery. Any unauthorized disassembly or modification may void the warranty of the unit. Keep the unit dry Avoid exposing the unit to water or rain. Exposing the unit’s internal circuitry to water may result in fire and/or electric shock. Do not operate malfunctioning unit Should the unit emit smoke or unusual odors, turn it off immediately, remove the battery (be careful, it might be hot). Discontinue further use and forward the unit to an authorised service center. Continued use of a malfunctioning unit may result in injury. Do not expose the unit to fire or high temperature If the unit is unavoidably exposed to high temperatures such as fire or a closed compartment exposed to the sun, the unit may be damaged. BEFORE YOU START

DSLR Camera Settings: Before using the Exposio Trigger, make sure you use the following settings on your camera (please refer to your camera manufacturer’s user guide):

- File number sequence is ON. - Review option is OFF. - Noise reduction is OFF. - Auto ISO is OFF. - RAW mode is deactivated - The camera sleep mode is off - Your camera is on PTP mode. (For older models like Nikon D40, D50, D60,...) or in PC connection (Canon XT).

Trigger Settings: If your camera is on the compatibility list, it will work out of the box! If there is an (*) next to your camera, switch the camera’s USB mode to PTP (for Nikon Cameras) and to PC connection (for Canon Cameras). If your camera isn’t on the list, contact [email protected] and we will assist you. Nikon Users: In the Trigger options, uncheck the option the Trigger manage picture resolution (Page 17).

USING THE TRIGGER Start Up: 1- To turn the Trigger on, press the power button located on the right side of the device and hold for 2 seconds. You will feel a vibration.

2- Connect the Trigger to the camera with the USB cable (mini USB to mini USB). On some camera models, you will need an adaptor (Nikon).

3- Turn the camera on and set it to manual mode (M).

4- Press on the Trigger Release button on the Trigger screen to initialize the camera. Make sure the FLASH isn’t activated.

5- Choose a client number (or the street address of the client) and press

continue, then confirm the client number

o At this step, the Trigger will force the setting in the camera to ISO 200, F9 and the resolution to small.

6- On the following screen, you can choose between these 4 options:

1- Do a HDR Still 2- Do a 360 in HDR 3- Do a HDR in low light mode. 4- Disable/Enable the USB connection

HDR STILL 1- (Optional) Choose a room name by pressing on the upper bar. Select the name of the room. The list can be edited. For more information, contact us at [email protected].

Before each shot, auto-focus your camera by pressing the shutter half-way. Once the shot is in focus, switch back to manual focus before taking the Exposio sequence.

2- Press the Trigger Release button on the Trigger screen to start the photo shooting process.

3- Repeat this sequence for every shot.

4- When you are done with a property, press on the green arrow to finish the client. The camera must be connected. This step will link all the photos (HDR and automatic photos) to the client number you’ve just finish.

If the shooting is complete, you can develop your photos. See the Exposio Darkroom Pro section on page 18.

PANORAMAS

Full panorama: (AVAILABLE IN PRO MODE) Before you do your first panorama, please refer to your manufacturer’s head user guide to get the right alignment settings. 1- Select this option if you want to do a 360 in HDR. The Exposio system support full and partial panoramas.

2- Select 30˚ (12 photos) and press continue.

3- (Optional) Choose a room name by pressing on the upper bar. You can drag the list by dragging it up and down. The name can’t be changed once the panorama is started.

Before you take the shot, do the auto-focus on the camera by pressing half way on the shutter of the camera. Once the focus is made, switch back your lens to manual focus before you take the Exposio sequence.

4- You can start to take the photos by pressing on the

Exposio camera icon on the Trigger. 5- Once a photo is made, the pie chart will fill up. Always rotate the camera from left to right.

6- If the panorama is done, press on the New button to start a new one or press on the green arrow to go to the home screen.

Partial panorama: (AVAILABLE IN PRO MODE)

- Refer to the steps in the full panorama on previous page.

- To do a partial panorama, press on the green arrow once you

have covered the area needed.

- A message will tell you that the

panorama is incomplete, press on YES

to confirm if it’s a partial panorama

and NO if you wish to complete the

panorama.

LOW LIGHT MODE (AVAILABLE IN PRO MODE) Low light mode is design for low light situations. It will take 10 photos with longer exposure time instead of 8. Best situation to use: Dawn shot, basement, Home Theatre, bathroom.

DISABLE / ENABLE THE USB

CONNECTION

- To deactivate the USB connection with the camera, press on the following icon. When the icon is white, it means that the connection with the camera is deactivated. This option will let Nikon users have access to their LCD screens to preview the photos.

- To reactivate the connection, press on the white icon. The icon is now orange and it means that the connection had been re-establish with the camera.

- In the event you want to take automatic photos or in any other modes (A, P, Av, Tv, M, with or without the flash), we strongly recommend that you press on this icon to deactivate the connection with the camera. Once all your photos are taken, press again to reactivate the connection.

TAKING AUTOMATIC PHOTOS While shooting with Exposio, it’s possible to take photos in other modes (A, P, Av, Tv, M, with or without flash) by pressing on the camera shutter. To do this, you can choose to leave the camera connected to the Trigger or not. For the rest of this document, we will refer to those photos as automatic photos.

1- When the camera is disconnected from the Trigger: If you disconnect the camera from the Trigger to take automatic photos, you will have to reconnect the Trigger before taking an Exposio photo. To do this, make sure:

- To reconnect the cable to the camera - The camera is set to manual mode

An error message will appear telling you that the connection with the camera was lost and the Trigger needs to reinitialize the camera. Press on reconnection on the Trigger and wait a few seconds. You can now take Exposio photos. When the camera is connected to the Trigger: It’s possible for you to take automatic photos while the Trigger is connected to the camera. While in manual mode, simply change the camera mode, take the photo and then go back to manual mode to take an Exposio photo.

- Make sure the FLASH isn’t in function when you do Exposio photos.

If you change the camera settings (photo size, ISO, white balance, F-stop), the Trigger won’t recognise the new settings and will revert to the automatic settings. To reinitialize the camera’s default settings, you have 3 options: i- Use the USB connection button to deactivate/activate the connection with the camera. (Page 12)

ii- Configure the settings manually; F9, ISO 200, AWB, Quality Normal, and Size around 2048 pixels.

iii- Force a reconnection between the camera and the Trigger. Disconnect the Trigger from the camera, press the Exposio Release button then reconnect the camera to the Trigger.

Once all the automatic photos are taken, reconnect the Trigger and press finish client. This will link all the automatic photos to the correct customer. If the finish the client step isn’t done properly, the Trigger will group the automatic photos following this rule: All the automatic photos taken 30 minutes before the first Exposio photo and 60 minutes after the last Exposio Photo will be linked to the current client.

SLEEP MODE/ POWER OFF When you have finished using the Trigger, press and hold the power button for 2 seconds and you will be given 2 options: Shut down: if you don’t plan on using it for a long period of time. Sleep mode: if you plan on using it in a short delay. In both cases, all the data will be kept in the device.

Tip: Always erase the data in the Trigger before you start a new shooting day of photos. This will prevent developing the same photos twice. Make sure all photos are developed before erasing the Trigger data. If you erase the data in the Trigger by mistake, you can still develop your photos; however the client number and room name will be missing.

Did you know? All automatic photos processed through the Darkroom are free of charge. They will be processed the same as the HDR photos, including resizing, and having the client number in their name.

CHARGING / REPLACING THE BATTERY

Charging the Battery: There are 2 ways to charge the battery:

1- Connect the Trigger to a wall outlet with the AC adaptor (Recommended method for a faster charging speed)

2- Connect the Trigger to a computer with the USB to mini USB cable.

Replacing the battery: To change the Trigger, use your fingernail or a credit card to pry off the rear cover at the slot provided.

Pull out the battery and replace with another one.

Did you know?

- You can use the Trigger with more than one camera. - You won’t lose the data in the Trigger by switching the battery. - You can buy a spare battery.

TRIGGER OPTIONS

Deleting the data: To delete all the photos on the Trigger, press the Options button on the home screen, then press erase Trigger data. We strongly recommend erasing the data on the Trigger once the photos have been processed. You will also need to erase the photos in your camera.

Custom resolution: In the Settings management menu you can uncheck the option, “Trigger manages picture resolution,” Doing this will not force a lower resolution on your camera. *Standard accounts currently support a maximum resolution of 2048 pixel width (HD). *Higher resolutions available on demand. Contact [email protected]

Deactivating the Pro Mode: In the management menu you can deactivate/activate the Pro Mode (360 and the low light function) leaving only the HDR stills. On left: Pro Mode On right: Regular Mode

EXPOSIO DARKROOM PRO To download the Exposio Darkroom installer, go to: http://www.exposioHDR.com/download/ExposioDarkroomPro.exe

If you are using the Trigger for the first time, please refer to page 33 for the First PC-To-Trigger connection

Exposio Darkroom Pro is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8

You must copy all photos to your computer if you are using the Trigger. When the development process starts, a session file is created in the photo folder. It will keep all the information stored in the Trigger for future development.

Copying the photos to your computer

1- Connect the SD card reader to your computer. Insert the memory card of the camera in the card reader.

2- Once connected; a. Press on Computer in the start menu b. Select the SD card c. Select the DCIM folder. The photos are in the

100CANON folder. (The folder may have another name, it varies depending of the camera)

Before launching the process, COPY all the photos from your camera to your computer. It will also be a backup folder.

DO NOT RENAME THE PHOTOS; THEY NEED TO HAVE THEIR ORIGINAL NAME GIVEN BY THE CAMERA.

d. Drag the folder to your desktop or any location you want to keep them.

Development process 1- To load your photos, click on File and select the option Load from Trigger and a photo folder.

• You can also click on this icon

2- A pop-up window will let you locate the folder with the source photos.

3- Select the location and click Select

Folder.

If you clicked on the folder, you will see the message “No item match your search” in the window. Just confirm the location in the address bar and press select folder.

4- Once the photos are loaded, you will see the following screen:

5- Press on Develop Sequences to launch the HDR process*.

*If there is an error in a sequence, a message in a yellow bar will appear below the faulty row. Refer to page 39 for more information.

6- Once the process is complete, check the box to the right of the photo to select the photos you want to buy.

7- Proceed to the purchase by pressing on Buy HDR pictures*. *If your account doesn’t have any more prepaid credits, purchasing the photos will not be possible from the Darkroom. Login on www.exposiohdr.com to buy a package of credits (see page 35)

8- Save images on your computer by pressing on Save photos.

CORRECTING SEQUENCES

Grouping errors There might be some grouping errors*. If this happens, simply drag and drop the photo into the correct row. If 2 photos are on the same row, add a new row to separate them.

*Grouping errors occur when: - The datasets are from a manual shooting. - The Trigger is not detected by the computer. - The user forgets to press finish client (on the Trigger).

File menu: 1- Loading from the Trigger and a photo folder: Load all the photos taken with the Trigger.

2- New Project: This option will remove all the photos that are loaded in the Darkroom. If the photos had been processed / bought, they will still remain in your account on www.exposiohdr.com

3- Load Pictures: Load a single sequence manually. 4- Loading from a photo folder: Load all the photos inside a folder.

These options are also accessible through the quick access bar: 1- New Project 2- Loading from the Trigger and a photo folder 3- Load Pictures 4- Load from a photo folder 5- Add an empty row 6- Add a panorama row: If you need to put all the photos of a panorama all together manually.

Tools menu: Update the Trigger room list: See page 36 Update the Trigger: To install the latest version of the Trigger operating system.

Darkroom Pro user interface

1. Show global option: Click on this option to expand a menu on which 2. You can (un)select all by checking “Select all image sequences”. 3. You can choose the default format for all photos: Web, Print. (You can change these settings in your account, refer to page 36)

4. Panorama row: Such a row contains a panorama, 5. Expand the panorama: You can expand the row to see each individual sequence in the panorama.

6. HDR still row: Such a row contains an HDR still. 7. Development selection box: Select/unselect photos to be developed. 8. Individual resolution selector: Choose resolution for the photo in the row. 9. Row moving button: Click and hold the left button to move an entire row.

10. Recycle bin: Double-click to remove a single photo from a sequence. You can also remove an entire row by double-clicking on the recycle bin on the left of the row.

11. Name list: You can select the name of the room. If chosen, the room name will be included in the photo filename when saved.

12. Client number: You can change the number assigned to the client. By doing so, it will also change the number of every photos below it, if no number were assigned to them. The client number will be included in the photo filename when saved.

13. Develop sequences: This will launch the development process on our servers. The processing time may vary depending of your upload speed.

14. Scroll bar: This bar will let you see the full sequence. 15. Preview window: You can preview each photo by double clicking on the developed photo. A new window will open where you can fine tune your photo. (Fine tuning is applied only on bought photos and needs to be saved locally from the Darkroom. Note that these changes are not uploaded to the Exposio server.*) *Option available with server to server connections

16. Buy selection box: This one allow you to automatically check all the boxes under the photo.

17. Individual buying selection box: Select/unselect photos to be bought.

18. Buy HDR pictures: This will confirm the purchase of all checked photos. All unchecked photos are available with the Exposio watermark in your account under "My HDR photos – developed." You can buy them there later on www.exposiohdr.com. The photos you bought are also available in your account under "My HDR photos bought" and the developed ones will be in the section, "My HDR photos developed"

19. Save selected photos: This allows you to save all the photos you bought on your computer.

20. Upload to Server: To upload directly to your server. (See page 36)

ADVANCED OPTIONS By double clicking on the Preview photo on the right side of the Darkroom, a new Preview window will open and will give you access to editing tools to fine tune your photos. You can also use this tool to preview the photos at their respective resolution and select only the photos you want to keep.

You can use the sliders or you can use the field and insert a number between -100 and 100. By default all the photos processed by Exposio are at the 0 value. On the next page shows examples of every sliders. We strongly recommend that you look at the color PDF version of this guide bundled in your Darkroom software. As reference, here is the Exposio photos without any effect applied.

WHITE BALANCE: AUTO: This option will automatically correct the white balance. SAMPLE: Press on this icon and then select on the photo a region that should normally be white. Example of a photo where the white balance is off.

CROP: Use this option to remove an area in the photo. Note that the cropping tool will keep the original ratio of the photo. RESET: If you wish to return to the default value. This option will reset all changes. COMPARE: During the fine tuning, this option let you compare the modified HDR photo, with the original one. You can also compare the HDR photo with the photos that were used for the HDR processing. To change the comparison mode, you can click on one of the 3 options below the photo.

If there are photos that you don’t want to buy, you can uncheck them in the preview window. You can also rename the photos. By pressing on Save, the Darkroom will save a local copy of the photo with the modifications on your computer. By pressing on Close, the Darkroom will close the review window and bring you back to the main window.

Watermark Option The watermark feature allows to superimpose your company logo over the

Exposio photos that have been bought. With this option turned on, each photo

will be saved in two copies: one with and the other one without your company

logo.

Watermark Configuration

To use the watermark feature, you must configure it first. To do so, in the Tools

menu select Watermark configuration....

The configuration window will be accessible

Two options are offered:

1) Write your company name

2) Load your company logo (preferably, use the .PNG image format with a transparency layer).

To apply the watermark:

1- Choose the desired option between Write my company name and Load my Watermark Logo:

a. If you choose the first option, write your company name in the

appropriate field and click on Update.

b. If you choose to load your own logo, press on Load images... and select the proper image file.

To change the watermark position press on Setup watermark position. Then

move the mouse cursor over the logo, hold the left mouse button and drag

the logo to the desired position. Finally, release the mouse button.

2- Once the logo has been positioned, change the size by moving the corresponding cursor.

- Left to decrease the size

- Right to increase the size.

3- Choose the Opacity by moving the cursor. - Left for less opacity.

- Right for more opacity.

4- When you're done with the configuration, check Apply on all photos and click on the Save button.

To see your own

watermarks on the Exposio

photos, you must select

them and click on Buy HDR

photos. Then, double click

on the Exposio photo at the

right-hand side of your

choice to draw the result

window.

It is now possible to move the watermark on this photo only by clicking Move

this watermark on this photo. Then, move the mouse cursor over the logo,

hold the left mouse button and drag the logo to the desired position. Finally,

release the mouse button.

Saving photos with your watermark

When you save the Exposio photos on your

computer, each photo will be saved in two

copies: with and without the watermark. The

photos with your watermark will be saved within

FIRST TRIGGER-TO-PC CONNECTION The Trigger is compatible with Windows XP, Vista 7 and 8 You MUST install the Darkroom before connecting the Trigger to the computer the necessary drivers to use the Trigger will be installed with the Darkroom. Windows 8, 7 and Windows Vista users, you must run the installer as an administrator. To do so, right click on the installer file. The “Run as administrator” will be located at the top. 1- Once the Darkroom is installed, connect the Trigger to the computer. Wait for the Trigger to boot. It will take few minutes for the Trigger to install the drivers. Follow the steps on the screen.

2- Once you will have a message telling you the device is ready to use, launch the Exposio Darkroom Pro.

3- Click on the File menu and select Load from Trigger and a photo. The following window will appear:

4- Press OK. Let the process finish and you will have a window that will confirm that the configuration is successfully completed.

5- The Trigger is ready to use.

ONLINE OPTIONS The following options can only be accessed through your account at www.exposiohdr.com.

BUYING CREDITS To buy credits, go to www.exposiohdr.com. Login your account and go on “My account” tab.

Select the Purchase option on the left side menu. From there you will see the available packages for your account. Select the desired package and proceed to the purchase. You will be given the choice to pay directly on the website or by using PayPal.

If you are on the monthly payment method, you will receive an invoice at the end of each month.

ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT The following options are available for Multi-user accounts only. To learn more about these accounts, contact [email protected]. To access the account options, go to www.exposiohdr.com and log in to your account using your login information (email) and click on Multi-user.

With administrator privileges, you can change the size of the photos, add new users and change room names on the Trigger.

Adding / Removing a user: Before adding new users, they must first register on the website using their email address. Once the user is registered, enter the email address in the field below and press the Link this account button. Once an account is linked, the credits are withdrawn from the pool of credits belonging to the Multi-user account and not from the individual account credits.

You can remove a user from the corporate account by clicking on the Unlink Account link on the right side of the user name.

Picture resolution settings: To change the resolution of a photo, click on “Destination Management” on the left side menu. You can then enter your own value for:

- Web (up to 1024x1024) - Print (up to 2048x2048)*

*Inserting a number higher than 2048 will generate errors.

The ratio of the photo will be kept. Higher resolution available on demand. Contact [email protected] for more information.

Server to server connection: The Destination URL field and the photo2 field are used if you have a direct server-to-server connection. With Exposio, it is possible to send your pictures to another server directly to increase your productivity and workflow. To learn more, contact [email protected]

TRIGGER TROUBLESHOOTING The photo sequence didn’t finish.

Use the manual focus on the lens and on the camera. (Page 10) Deactivate the option: The Trigger manages resolution. Deactivate the noise reduction

The Trigger doesn’t connect to the camera.

Make sure the camera is on manual mode. Put the camera un mode USB PTP for older camera model. (Nikon D60, D80) Put the camera in PC connexion for the (Canon XT, 5D) Check if your camera is in the compatibility list. If not, contact [email protected].

The Trigger doesn’t connect to the camera.

See the camera settings (Page 7) The camera battery is empty (Nikon)

The Trigger freeze and doesn’t want to reboot.

Remove the battery, put it back and reboot the Trigger.

The Trigger isn’t booting

The Trigger isn’t detected by the computer.

The Darkroom doesn’t group the photos.

The Trigger first PC connection fails

The Trigger isn’t detected by the computer. Try another USB port on the PC. The Trigger is on the Shooting USB mode. Exit the Exposio software on the device. Contact [email protected] and a support representative will assist you. A remote session might be needed

Empty battery recovery procedure Here is the procedure to recharge the battery when the battery is completely empty:

1. Connect the Trigger with the AC adaptor 2. Press on the auxiliary button (located on top left).

Keep it pushed and press on the power button. 3. You should see this menu appears. (See the picture) 4. Press one more time on the power button to boot the

device with the original operating system. Let it connected 30 minutes. Reboot normally and finish the charging process.

USB mode The Trigger has 2 connection modes and being in the wrong one will prevent it to work properly. DEFAULT MODE: this mode is the one by default when you boot the device. On this mode the Trigger will:

- Be detected by the computer - Charge using the AC adaptor

SHOOTING MODE: this mode gets in function once you hit the initialization button. To activate this mode, a camera must be connected to the Trigger. You must either press Finish client or exit the Exposio software (by pressing on the green arrow) to switch back to default mode.

DARKROOM ERROR MESSAGE

Once the photos are loaded, the Darkroom will prompt you if there are problems. Usually this message appears when the photos miss the EXIF file. Under each problem photo, you will see the following message:

Make sure you get the photos directly from the memory card of the camera. Do not use software to copy them. Simply drag and drop to your backup folder.

In the development process you may lose the connection to the server. This can happen due to a bad internet connection. If it happens, the Darkroom will reconnect automatically. If the Darkroom doesn’t reconnect contact Exposio Technical support at [email protected].

If a photo is corrupted, the Darkroom will get rid of it automatically. You can proceed with the development process.
