Seminar on Pharma Export procedures at Bangalore

OnedayseminaronPharmaexportproceduresatBangalorewasorganizedon4thApril07inassociationwithexIMbankwhereabout45membersfromallpartsofthecountryparticipated. Presentations on Market development and Market Access Incentiveschemes of Govt. of India, export credit schemes available through exim Bank, basicexportproceduresetc.,weremadebyofficialsfromeximBank,RBI,dGFTetc.

Participation in CPhI Japan 19-20th April 2007

CouncilhadparticipatedinCPhIJapanheldduring18-20thApril2007forthefirsttimebyorganizingIndiapavilion,in120sq.metersofspace.ConsideringtheliberalizationPharmapoliciesinJapanandemergingopportunitiesforIndianPharmaindustrytoenhanceitsexportstoJapan,Pharmexcilhadputlotofeffortsinmakingthiseventsuccessfulandencouragedmemberstoparticipateintheevent.Indiawasdeclaredas‘focuscountry’bytheorganizersandalsodesignatedastheSponsorintheofficialpartyorganizedbythem. SriGSSandhu,IAS,JointSecretary,dept.ofChemicalsandPetrochemicalshadparticipatedasChiefGuestofthe IndiadaycelebrationsorganizedPharmexcil.Sevenmembershaveparticipatedinthepavilion.

Council had participated in Bangalore Bio held at Bangalore during 7-9th June 07 bytaking 24 sq.meter stall. Mr. G K Raman, Regional director made a presentation onCouncil’s in the promotion of exports of pharmaceutical products, including biotechproductsandaboutfinancialassistanceavailabletoSMesunderMdA/MAIschemesofGovt.ofIndia.

India-LAC International Pharma Meet

Withthesupportfromthedept.ofCommerceanddeptofChemicals&Petrochemicals,Council had organized India-LAC International Pharma Business Meet during 27-29thJune 07 at Hyderabad. 50 delegates from 20 LAC countries and about 350 IndiandelegateshaveparticipatedintheMeet.Councilhadmadeelaborateeffortsinarrangingtheone-to-onemeetings for thebenefitof Indiandelegates. TechnicalSessionswerealsoarrangedwhereFdAofficialsfrommostoftheLACcountriesandalsoofficialsfromIndianPharmacopoeia,Govt.ofAndhraPradesh,dept.ofScienceandTechnology,Govt.ofIndiaandalsofromindustrymadepresentationsonveryimportantandusefulissues.

Meeting of Working Group of USP

AmeetingofWorkingGroupofUSPwasorganizedatHyderabadwhereofficialsofUSP,USA, Mr.Vijaya Kumar from Council, Mr. Raina etc. have attended the meeting. It wasdiscussedandagreedto incorporateall thosemonographsofherbalproducts,whichweredecidedtoplaceintheIPwithsamespecifications.

Councils participation in Hong Kong International Medical & Health Fair – 16-20th August 07

On the advice of embassy of Hong Kong, council has participated in the Hong KongInternationalMedical&HealthFairduring16th-20thAugust07totakecareofthefreestallallottedtotheembassy.Thoughtheeventwasmainlyformedicalequipmentandnotforpharmaceuticalproducts,Counciltookinitiativetoparticipateintheevent,putupthestallandpropagatedaboutCouncil,itsroleinpromotionofpharmaceuticalproductsinIndiaandstrengthsofIndianpharmaindustry.

CPhI Worldwide 2007

Council’sparticipationinCPhIWorldwide2007atMilan,Italy,whereIndiaPavilionwasorganizedand41membershavetakenpartintheexhibition.ConsulGeneralofIndianembassyatItalyhadinauguratedthepavilion.ParticipantsappreciatedtheeffortsmadebythecouncilinorganizingpavilionandbuildingtheIndiabrandimageatinternationalmarkets.

Council’s participation in 4th Session of Indo-Tajik Joint Commission

On the advice of dept. of Commerce, Council had organized a trade delegation todushanbe,Tajikistan,where4thSessionofIndo-TajikJointCommissionhadtakenplace.Five of our members participated in the delegation. Sri G K Pillai, Secretary, dept. ofCommercehadledthedelegation.SriRaghuveerKini,edhadparticipatedonbehalfofcouncil.PharmexcilwasappointedasthenodalAgencyforregistrationofproductsonfasttrackbasis.AMOUwasenteredbetweenIndiaandTajikistan,wherepharmaceuticalisoneoftheitems.

International Meet of TM Regulatory & Industry

For the benefit of members in the AYUSH sector, Pharmexcil had organized BusinessMeetings and conferences on the occasion of International meet of TM Regulatory& Industry, organized by dept. of Ayush in association with ITPO.This was organizedwiththefinancialsupportfromdept.ofCommerce.ViceChairmanSriVenkatJastihasparticipatedintheinauguralsessionoftheconference.38overseasdelegatesand150Indianhaveparticipatedintheevent.drugRegulatoryofficialsfromvariouscountriesandalsoeminentpersonsfromtheIndustryhavemadepresentationsduringtechnicalsessions.

Pharmetech, Moscow

CouncilparticipatedinPharmtech,Moscowheldbetween20thto23rdnovember2007.Fiveofourmembersparticipatedintheevent.SinceitwasfeltthatthiseventwasnotanexhibitionrelevanttoPharmaexporters,CouncildecidedtocontinueitsparticipationinApteka,whichismorerelevanttoPharmaexporters.

CouncilorganizedIndiapavilioninCPhIMumbaiin500sq.metersspacewith55stalls,where53membersparticipated.dr.Venkateswarlu,dCGIandSridBModyhavevisitedallthestallsatourpavilion.SriSmiteshShahandSriBnSinghhavemadepresentationsontheinauguralfunctionorganizedbyCMP-UBMIndia.CouncilofficialshadmeetingswiththeProjectdirectorofCMPtoresolvetheproblemsoftwoofourmembersregardingtheirparticipationinCphIWorldwide.AlsomettheMemberontheBoardofArabUnionoftheManufacturersofPharmaceuticalsandMedicalAppliances,Jordanwhoassuredtheirfullco-operationforimprovingIndianPharmaexportstoArabcountries,ChairmanofChinaChamberofCommerce.

Arab Naturals, Abudabi

Council had participated in Arab naturals, Abudabi during 4t-6th december 07. Thiswasaneventexclusiveforherbalandnaturalproducts.Sixmembershaveparticipatedthrough us in the event. Since the event was organized for the first time, number ofvisitorswasless,butallourmembershavereceivedgoodqualityvisitors.

Seminar on DGFT Matters, Forex Risk Management and IPR

Ontheoccasionof3rdAnnualGeneralmeetingoftheCouncil,aseminarondGFTMatters,ForexRiskManagementandIPRwasorganizedon28thnovember07atHyderabad.dr.Gopakumarnair,dr.Vivekanandan,Mr.KalyanofICICImadepresentationsontheabovetopics, which were very well received by the participants. Senior officials from dGFT,delhi, Chennai and Hyderabad have participated in the meeting to interact with themembersonissuesrelatingtodGFT.

Arab Health 2007

ForthebenefitofmembersinSurgicals/healthcareproductssector,CouncilparticipatedinArabHealth2007byorganizingIndiaPavilioninaspaceof165sq.meters.Itwasheldduring28-31stJanuaryatdubai,UAe.Mrs.RojaRani,dy.directorhadco-ordinatedtheevent.21membersdealingwithsurgicals,diagnostickits,healthcareproducts,Pharmaproductsetc.,participatedinthepavilion.Appreciatingthelocation,designandotherarrangementsmadeinthepavilion,theparticipantshadrequestedtheCounciltotakepartinonemoreeventi.e.Medica,whichisagainabigeventforsurgicalandmedicalequipmentsector,heldinGermanyeveryyearinOctober.

India – Asean Business Meet

India-AseanBusinessMeetingwassuccessfullyorganizedduring11-13thFebruary08atHyderabadwhere51delegatesfromthefourASeAncountriesand148Indiandelegateshaveparticipated.Though51foreigndelegateshaveparticipated,Councilhadprovidedairfare+accommodationsforonly32delegates,whileremainingdelegateshavecomeon their own expenses. Our embassies in the four countries have extended their fullsupport in identifying the importers/buyers. Feedback from the participants indicatethattheystarteddoinggoodbusinessinASeAncountriesafterthemeet.Consideringthe success of such type of Business meets, Committee of Administration suggestedtoorganizesuchReverseBSMsoncontinuousbasiswiththehelpofdept.ofC&PCandCommerce,ratherthantakingadelegationof5or6companies.SriVenkatJasti,Chairmansaidthatparticipationofabout20overseasdelegatesontheirownclearlyshowsthatthereisinteresttodobusinesswithIndiaanditistherighttimeforustoimproveuponit.

Trade delegation to African countries

AtradedelegationtoAfricancountrieswasorganizedduring17thFebruaryto1stMarch2008.Mr.RaghuveerKini,executivedirectorco-ordinatedthetradedelegationto3Africancountriesi.e.Congo,TanzaniaandUganda.25Indiancompanieshaveparticipatedinthedelegation.BSMs,meetingswithFdAofficialswereorganizedin3countries.duringthemeetingswithFdAofficials,itisunderstoodthatifproductsareregisteredinRepublicofCongo,thecertificategivestheexporteranadvantageandpreferencetoregistertheirproductsinother14FrancofonecountriesinAfricaContinent.
