Hello! My name is Thea Turner. I am the EXPO Specialist for Blanton Elementary. I have been teaching for almost 16 years. I have taught K, 1, 7, 8, 9 as well as been a Special Education Inclusion Teacher.I am married to Stanford, who is a minister & funeral director, but Sprint is his day job. Our first meetings in class, the students wrote, discussed & revised their own classroom rules. This allows them to take ownership of not only the rules, but of their behavior.3Accountability ..

To monitor class behavior, I use ClassDojo. ClassDojo online behavior management software. It is a classroom tool that helps improve behavior in the classrooms quickly and easily. It also captures and generates data on behavior that I can share with parents and administratorsBetter learning behaviors, smoother lessons and hassle-free data!Students will earn points to change their avatar!4Regular Classroom Expectations1. Maintain High standards for themselves. Depth & Complexity

2. No homework overload.

EXPO students are expected to maintain high standard for themselves in the EXPO classroom as well as their regular classroom! I check with teacher periodically to monitor classroom progress. When the students are out of their regular classroom, they should not have homework that the rest of the class doesnt have. Our classroom curriculum will include a bi-monthly blog. Students are to go to the student blog on my website and post a comment. The students need to type their name in the comment space before they type their comment. They only need to submit once! The comment is then sent to me for approval. Once it is approved it will be posted.Students 2-5th will be required to submit a current event each month. It needs to be in printed form-either from a newspaper, news magazine, or news website. Students will summarize the event in no less than 1 paragraph, but not more than 3 paragraphs. Each 6 weeks, students will be responsible for memorizing a famous quote and be able to discuss what the quote means to them.7Classroom NeedsParent Contact InfoEXPO Supplies

RenFest Fundraiser

I appreciate any classroom needs you can supply. I purchase many supplies for activities or lessons with my own money (mostly from dollar store or Walmart), so any assistance would be great! I would also appreciate your participation in the RenFest Baked Treat Sale. I will be requesting baked goodies to stock our table.
