About Expo LiveThe aim of Expo Live is to identify and support ideas that have the potential to benefit communities by encouraging innovators and other solution-seekers to work together in new ways. In addition, we will also provide innovators with an opportunity to showcase their ideas to an audience of 25 million visitors at Expo 2020.

› Expo Live is a Euro 100 million programme that aims to create partnerships, and incentivise new solutions that could benefit the lives of millions of people around the world.

› Starting in 2016, Expo Live will offer Innovation Impact Grants to support projects in the areas of Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability.

› Individual grant amounts will depend on the stage of maturity of a project, the intended duration and the extent of impacts at community level.

What are we looking for?Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate how new innovations, or the innovative application of existing solutions, could lead to impressive impacts at community level. Potential for replication or scaling-up of solutions and impacts are important.

When we evaluate proposals, we will ask the following questions:

Is the project or solution relevant to Expo 2020’s theme and subthemes?

Is the solution, or its application, novel or innovative? Will it inspire, capture the imagination or can it be showcased before or during Expo 2020?

Does the project or solution clearly identify the community that it impacts? Can we measure the current and intended impacts?

Is the project or solution ready for demonstration or transition-to-scale implementation? How will additional funding support the further development of the innovation or the scaling of the initiative/enterprise?

Is the project or business plan well-conceived; does the applicant have the capacity to implement the project, and is the requested grant amount reasonable and proportionate to the anticipated impacts?

Who can apply?We are looking for innovators and inventors with great ideas to develop and share. You can apply, regardless of whether you represent a social enterprise; small entrepreneur; university, research or educational body; not-for-profit foundation; private company or public-private partnership; government institution or public association; non-governmental organization; community-based or grassroots group.
