Events for School Children

Geology Rocks! Thursday 16 July 2015

3.45 - 4.45pm

A hands-on Earth Science workshop where you learn about erosion, how tectonic plates form our world, landforms, soil classification, rock types, panning for gold plus many others! Without some of these processes we would not have our mountains, river valleys, sandy beaches or even the soil in which we grow our food.

Creepy and Wicked Wounds Thursday 23 July 2015

3.45 - 4.45pm

Make disgusting wounds whilst learning human anatomy! Learn how to make fake skin, the components of blood, the difference between arterial and venous blood, the difference between plasma, platelets, white blood cells and red blood cells. View blood, skin and hair under the microscope and more!

May the Force be with you

Thursday 30 July 2015

3.45 - 4.45pm

Forces help and hinder us and some we can’t even see coming. Learn more about the forces you experience every day.

Forces can attract, repel, help and hinder. Try a number of experiments that explore the forces we encounter daily such as friction, gravity and magnetism and how to maximise or minimise the effect of forces in sports.

See Light in a New Light Thursday 6 August 2015

3.45 - 4.45pm

Light is not just useful, it’s life sustaining. Find out about how it travels and what happens when something gets in its way. In this workshop there will be lots of hands-on activities to learn about light and then make a kaleidoscope to take home. Have fun while exploring in this educational workshop.
