Girls CAN DO Multi-level teamsWe all know Girl Scouts CAN DO anything!

Service Units or Troops can team up to help the

CANstruction organization and The Food Pantries

Organization (serves 56 pantries in the Capital

Region) address the issue of hunger in a fun

community service project. Did you know that

after the holidays, local food pantries receive

fewer donations to help people throughout the

long winter months? Girls CAN DO will empower

you to make a difference at a time when food

pantries need it most.

Last year, through Girls CAN DO, GSNENY

collected more than 1,800 pounds of food and

received the second place 2017 Hunger Hero

award at the CANstruction ceremony at the

NYS Museum. The challenge is to first hold

a food drive collection in the fall for canned

goods. Map out and determine what you will

construct at Girls CAN DO at the Empire State

Plaza on Saturday, January 13, 2018. Build your

construction with your team in the morning. In

the afternoon, you’ll be judged by members of

the CANstruction and Food Pantries Organization

in various categories. Perhaps you’ll build

a mountain of food, a river with its banks

overflowing, or maybe even a Girl Scout-type

camping experience. The choice is yours! You

and your team may have the opportunity to do

an additional build at a later date in a

special location.
