Tiger Sharks at Bahamas Situated north of Grand Bahamas is Tiger Beach. Known for its clear and calm waters and considered among professional photographers/film makers as the best shark destination in the world. Here you will experience close encounters with tiger, lemon, and reef sharks and if you are lucky even more. You will embark at West Palm Beach, Florida on board the liveaboard M/Y Dolphin Dream and set your course towards Grand Bahamas and Tiger Beach. You will arrive around sunset the next day. You now have a couple of days with exciting shark dives ahead of you. Between the dives, you can relax on deck and enjoy a burger or some ribs, whilst the shark fins continue to appear in the water. This journey is perfect for divers who have shark diving on their bucket list. If you want to see sharks up close, in this case really close, then this journey is for you. This adventure will also give you the opportunity to take fantastic photos up close.Hammerheads at BiminiAs if tiger, lemon and reef sharks weren’t enough, this special expedition itinerary will finish with a couple of days at Bimini Island. A place most famous for its great hammerheads. You will be diving with these beautiful sharks in shallow waters of about 7 meters deeps. These shallow dives with white sand bottom makes a terrific scenery for your photos. Bimini is also famous for encounters with the bull shark and hopefully you will get to see them as well. There is a special group of Atlantic spotted dolphins living on the edge of the Little Bahama Bank. These dolphins have developed a unique, voluntary bond with us humans. During your trip there is a chance that you will meet this group when you are relocating or during the evening.

M/Y Dolphin Dream - your liveaboard Our operator has 25 years of experience with shark diving using bait in the water. They are considered to be one of the most experienced and qualified operators. M/Y Dolphin Dream is a stable shrimp trawler that has been rebuilt to a liveaboard boat. The boat has everything a diver can expect, but without the luxury. On the top deck, there is the canteen, where the chef will be serving food from the American cuisine. How about hamburger, ribs, pizza, chips, desserts and drinks etc? There are five spacious cabins with full size upper and lower bunk beds and one large cabin with a double bed. On deck you will find the diving platform. This is where all diving will be done from and also where you will keep your equipment. You can relax in the large galley/lounge area equipped with TV, DVD player, stereo and books. You will also find a room for assembling cameras and electrical outlets.

Is it safe? Captain Scott and his crew have worked with shark diving for 25 years. They offer great service and safe diving. They are hired by divers from all over the world and are very keen that everyone experiences a safe encounter with the big sharks. Making 3-4 dives a day is not a problem as the diving locations have a maximum depth of about 12 metres.

How does it work? Captain Scott or one of the dive guides will inform you how to act respectfully among the sharks. It is important to be aware of the current. The fish scent is spreading along the current, which attracts the big sharks, such as the tiger shark. The guide is always the first one in the water. He brings a bait of frozen fish, which he uses to attract the sharks. If the sharks are shy, you might have to lie down on the sand, making you a non-threat. When the timid tiger shark has taken its bait that is when the show begins. It is very important to keep eye contact with the sharks. Help each other out by making everyone aware of where the tiger sharks are.

Equipment and sun protection? Leave your colourful diving equipment at home. The big tiger shark is extremely curious of bright, shiny colours. This makes it essential that all divers have equipment in dark colours, preferably black with hood and gloves. NOTE! Check your equipment before departure. If you are using a DIN-regulator, do not forget to bring a YOKE adapter. During March/April, the weather in the Bahamas is comparable to the Scandinavian summer. Bring a cap/hat, sunglasses and sun lotion. It is important to stay alert at all times against the sun. Shorts and t-shirt is recommended on the boat. In case of strong wind during the nights, you will be transferred to a protected lagoon.
