THE INTERNATIONAL ROAMING TEAM (IRT)
PROVIDES DEDICATED CARRIER RESOURCES
TO ENABLE THE RAPID EXPANSION OF CDMA
INTERNATIONAL ROAMING.
Through the International Roaming Team (IRT), the
CDMA Development Group (CDG) brings together
leading carriers, technology providers and industry
consultants from around the world to enable
international roaming across CDMA2000® networks.
The IRT also facilitates inter-standard roaming
allowing CDMA2000 WorldMode™ (multi-mode)
devices to roam across GSM/GPRS/EDGE,
UMTS/HSPA, Mobile WiMAX and LTE networks.
The CDG assigns regional Carrier Relations
Managers (CRMs) to work directly with carriers to
facilitate the implementation and continued expansion
of CDMA roaming. Through partnerships with carriers
and vendors, CRMs deliver real-world roaming
solutions that meet current and future roaming needs.

Carrier Relations Manager (CRM)
Offering individualized guidance in makingdecisions for CDMA international roaming
Drawing from years of industry business and
technical experience, the CRM provides the
carrier with a comprehensive solution to the
unique challenges associated with interna-
tional roaming. CRMs act as the liaison to a
variety of industry contacts, ensuring that
sound business relationships are developed.
The IRT works with carriers to identify roam-
ing requirements and coordinate technical
resources; pre-qualify partner networks;
select preferred network architectures and
implementation models; and solve network
incompatibilities. Their hands-on approach
delivers international roaming solutions
ranging from the exchange of information to
network troubleshooting.
Whatever the roaming need, CRMs will facil-
itate the solution:

Workshops & Technical Training
Providing international roaming expertise ina collaborative learning environment
CDG training courses share the latest
technology information and best practices for
a complete roaming solution. The courses
are created and taught by engineers and
industry experts with applied experience in
international roaming, network planning,
deployment, and optimization.

Pre- & Post-Commercial Testing
Minimizing implementation timelines andoptimizing service quality
Considering the carrier’s distinct network,
CRMs provide appropriate guidance, help
eliminate technical hurdles and address
implementation and testing issues to ensure
optimal service performance.
Network and testing services range from a
basic understanding of the network roaming
readiness to a detailed analysis and resulting
recommendation for trouble areas.
Testing Services:
Quality Assurance - test calls andevaluation to confirm roaming service
availability
Real Time - coordinated test callsbetween home and partner networks to
validate roaming test plans
Troubleshooting - detailed, end-to-endproblem analysis and recommendations
Roaming Tools
Enabling secure and efficient sharing ofinternational roaming information
The Preferred Roaming List (PRL) tool
supports the development, test and
maintenance of preferred roaming lists for
CDMA2000 1X and EV-DO systems.
The CDMA Roaming Information Exchange
Tool (C-RIET) provides a single, secure inter-
face for access, storage and selective distri-
bution of information.
The Wiki contains working group documents
and meeting information.
The Bulletin Board is a public forum that fos-
ters collaborative technical and commercial
discussion of all roaming issues.

Industry Intelligence
Facilitating standardized industry datacollection and distribution
CRMs regularly collect and analyze interna-
tional roaming industry data to assist carriers
and vendors in making informed business
decisions. The standardized information
provides insight into international roaming
market dynamics and trends; and helps to
reduce information exchange variances and
timelines.
