NOTES

** The Ferris men's basketball team registered its fourth-straight Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament appearance in2006-07 under head coach Bill Sall and concluded the year with a 10-18 overall record. The Bulldogs placed tied for third in the GLIAC North Divisionregular-season standings with a 8-10 league slate after advancing to the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Tournament the previous two seasons.FSU captured back-to-back GLIAC North Division titles in 2003-04 and 2004-05 along with advancing to the NCAA-II Sweet Sixteen two years ago.

** Ferris State capped off a banner 2004-05 season under Bill Sall with a runner-up finish in the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Tournament(March 12-15) held in Findlay, Ohio. FSU reached the regional championship game for only the third time in school history two years ago. The Bulldogsconcluded the 2004-05 season with a 24-7 overall record and fell one game shy of advancing to the NCAA-II Elite Eight for the second time ever. FSU's24 victories represented the third-most seasonal wins in school history.

** Sixth-year FSU head coach Bill Sall, who served for four seasons (1998-2002) as the assistant men’s basketball coach at GLIAC-member Hillsdale(Mich.) College, previously was the top assistant coach at Ferris State for three seasons (1995-98) and spent part of the 1995-96 campaign as theBulldogs’ interim head coach. In his brief tenure, Ferris recorded a 5-8 start under Sall before finishing the year with a 6-20 overall record.

** Ferris State’s impressive basketball tradition includes 11 GLIAC titles, eight NCAA Division II Tournament appearances and a berth in the 1988 NCAA-II Elite Eight. Ferris, which last won the GLIAC Tournament championship during the 1997-98 campaign, captured a league record four consecutive con-ference titles from 1986-90. FSU has won more GLIAC Championships (11) than any other league member.

** The Bulldogs had posted only a 21-82 (.204) mark in the four seasons prior to Bill Sall's arrival, but has since went 77-67 (.535) and claimed two divi-sional titles while making two NCAA-II Tournament appearances in his five seasons at the helm. FSU won only four games (4-22) the year before Sallarrived in 2001-02.

** Ferris returns two starters and four letterwinners from the last campaign. Among the players lost from last season was forward Terrance Shaw, whoearned All-GLIAC Second Team accolades the last two seasons. One of the four returning letterwinners is two-sport athlete C.J. Van Wieren, who is thestarting quarterback for the Ferris State football team this fall. He will join the squad at the conclusion of the football campaign.

** This year’s Bulldog roster includes nine players who were not in the program last campaign in addition to Lou Williams, who redshirted in his initialBulldog season last year. Nine of the 14 players on the roster are freshmen.
