TAPING SHAPE Extended through Sept. 5!Hundreds of rolls of conventional packing tape are unfurled, webbed and layered together to create a maze of translucent rooms and tunnels for visitors of all ages to climb, learn, explore and delight in. Explorers will �nd themselves suspended above the ground in the weaving tunnels and opaque rooms of Taping Shape. A scientist will help guide visitors in extracting DNA from wheat germ, placing it into a small plastic container and a�aching it to a necklace! 5 to 9 p.m. Location: San Diego Museum Council O�ce, Liberty Station, 2750 Historic Decatur Rd., Studio 201, San Diego, CA 92106.

JULY—�oughtSTEM Computer Programming classes. �is fast-paced, exciting, code-writing workshop is designed to introduce students ages 8–14 to programming and build their skill set. Saturdays, July 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

JULY 21—Fleet Night of Science: Comic-Con A�er Party! �is summer the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center will host a special installment of the popular Fleet Night of Science event series to celebrate the pop culture, science �ction and fantasy event of the year: San Diego Comic-Con. We are excited to announce that Hollywood science advisor Andre Bormanis (Star Trek and Cosmos) will join us that evening. 21+; 6:30–9:30 p.m. $25 nonmembers; $20 members, students and military.

JULY 23—Building With Biology Festival. Get your hands on science with activities that will let you design a “super-organism” to solve a problem, extract DNA from wheat germ, explore your own genes and learn about more future technologies! 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

JULY 26–28—Summer Inquiry Institute. Using hands-on experiences and re�ection, the three-day Fleet Summer Inquiry Institute gives teachers a foundation in science inquiry. Sessions take place daily July 26–28 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

JULY 30—Genius in the House! What can take your fun day at the science center to the next level? Genius in the House! �is month’s Genius: Baltazar Perez, Smart Minds Robotics Director. Chat with him in Science Fiction, Science Future. Noon to 3 p.m.
