JUNE 1/8/15/22/29—Family Science Saturdays: Dismantlemania! Dissect and analyze found objects (feel free to bring your own or choose from our items) and develop the valuable skill of reverse engineering. Challenge Saturday, the last Saturday of each month, will culminate in fun visitor contests. Activities included with admission. 1PM–3PM

JUNE 3—Senior Monday lecture on Rise Above Plastics (�P) by speaker Sco� Harrison + IMAX �lm Coral Reef Adventure. Rise Above Plastics, a Surfrider campaign whose mission is to reduce the impacts of plastics on San Diego’s coastal environment, discusses how to promote awareness of plastic pollution and recycling and to encourage the reduction of single-use plastics. Harrison is a founder of the �P campaign. �e �rst Monday of the month, seniors 65+ enjoy the Science Center exhibits, a lecture and a Giant Dome �eater show at a discount! Noon lecture; 2PM show; $7.

JUNE 5—Exploring Ethics celebrates Women in Science on the 50th anniversary of Rachel Carson's landmark Silent Spring. Carson biographer Linda Lear will discuss how far we have come since the book was wri�en and how far we have yet to go. 5:30–7PM. JUNE 6–23—Young Scientists Session 9. Plants will dig into nature, teaching kids about Flora & Fauna, Plant Structures and Sprouting. Preschoolers age 3–5 (and a parent) explore the scienti�c wonders of the world through experimentation, investigation and scienti�c questioning. Four 4-week sessions run monthly. Limited to eight students per class. �ursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday morning 9AM–10:30AM. �is is a shorter, three-week session, with a special price: members: $56.25 per child; nonmembers: $63.75 per child.

JUNE 8—Saturday Science Club for Girls: “Secrets of Squid.” Have you ever seen a cephalopod? Get an inside look at the anatomy that makes these creatures so fascinating. Girls in grades 5–8 can join the Fleet on the second Saturday of each month to investigate exciting science topics. 12PM–2PM; members $12, nonmembers $14, must pre-register by calling (619) 238-1233 ext. 806.

FLEET EVENTSJUNE 13—Science on the Rocks: “�at's Hot: �e Fleet's Summer Sizzler!” Turn up the heat and celebrate the season of tank tops and �ip �ops in style! Nosh on nibbles from San Diego’s favorite restaurants and sip cool drinks while soaking up the ambiance. Find out what a Slinky has in common with sur�ng, experience the thrill of designing your own rollercoaster and have a blast at the bubble station.
