today they said we must carry passes. Together with our wifes, we must go and tell Verwoerd that our African women will nevery carry those passes. We suffer a lot through these passes why should our women suffered to? I now moved that our African women will nevery carry those passes, our sons are at Bethany through these passes, if we can allow our African people to carry them they will be sent to Rhodesia, I say let us go away with passes and let us all make a big protest against these pass laws, even if you are trying to "behave yourself still you will "be asked some passes, today our children are called tsotsis who have brought all these tsotsis? Europeans they are the ones who have established these tsotsis movements, and all what I am saying it has been brought down by pass laws to-day our wifes and children they have got no respects to us only through these passes, as from today we are not going to accept any more passes we can rather do away with these passes we had, all these people who are here we must all defy about these pass laws, we are also being underpaid where we are working if it was not through these passes we would not be underpaid let us do away with these passes.R. Kwakwa Sesutu.

Chairman and the gathering we have got no money I want to put it clear to you what we mean by saying that we have got no money those men of PU.T.C. today they are nothing. Mr. Fotheringham they in currage some people to agree to pay higher rents, is the time when we are trying to boy cotted those P.U.T.C, Buses, to-day they are busy taking the people to site- and services scheme and is where there is a great robbery businesses most of our African people who are well educated today they are the Government spies, like now we are trying to reject this Barfu Education but the teachers and ministers and chiefs they are

willing to carry on with this Bantu Education I think the best thing we must boycotted all these churches, and after that we are going to convict you people who are taking notes, we are going to call a big conference and I am sure we are going to win all these unjust laws of Verwoerd and Strydom, our land has been robbed by these Europeans from us, all these teachers are all going to be the spies of the Government and all those who are against the Bantu Education will be all arrested through these teachers and most of our children will be sent to constration camps, we are going to boycotted all these schools this year and the churches too will fellow.Aron Mahlangu. Zulu. Stood up and said I am sorry to stand up and tell you that I was prepared to give a speech about another subject but I will speak about something else, as from the 1st of February this year all white police will get increased wages but non-Europeans will never get anything but they are the people who are doing the most part of the work I think you still remember that there was a man called S. Sacks who was fighting for equal wages and that man was against the Government and a man like J, B.Marks he also tried to fight on behalf of mines people, and all these people were banned, even Mr. W. Sisulu was banned and also our president chief A. Luthuli who refused to carry the duties of his chief and said he will work for the nation, Verwoerd has introduced this B,Education due the fact that African people should only be taught how to work for farmers in the farms, he have also introduced the system of that wages of teachers will be detacted those teachers who are teaching outsite of the towns they will only get the salary of £5 a month like now no Africans will ever be allowed to attend school in the university, most of us we are all going to Cont. camps and the last people who will go there it will

be those people who are taking notes, there in Vryburg there are some people who are from different places and those people they are still interested about the A.N.C. when you are trying to tell the truth you will be threaten by guns last time we were threaten in Kliptown but we had to take everything very easy, these Europeans when trying to protest they are not actual meaning it, they only try to make you are slaves I am now referring to those who are taking notes, the time has come that each and every man must start organising some friends too. Those people who are detectives they must be aware of the fact that they are Africans we live together and the same life too. we are not against these white people but we want that they must join our freedom charter we want some more volunteers, let us do away with those schools and churches, look at our flag is Black it means that we are black yellow coloured means Africa it has more Gold and green coloured means that our lands is ever green it has been said that African women will carry passes if the City Council or Govemer-general he must come and tell us wheather this is a civil case or not this is a slaves to the African people I can challenged them in the court of Justice we want to work with every body we dont want that some of them should assist the Government our teachers has been expelled at Orlando. In Bloemfontein a resolution has been passed that each and every body who is on the site of the “Government must start going away now he must never live together with us. Do you know that you are the property of some one if I can read an act for you for native Location you will be surprised.Chairman Maseko.

Sunday 22.1.56 9.30 a.m. - 12.30. Attended 40.J. Hadebe Interpreted by K, Peloo : -

We were searched by the Police at the Congress of the people in Kliptown saying that they are investigating the crime of High Treason. The Indians and Europeans came after us and today we are haveing 2 flags because of the Freedom Charter which is our bible and the Europeans and the Africans can kill us for the Freedom Charter and the other flag is opposing the Freedom Charter which was introduced to every nation and they agreed with it and say we can work through it for freedom. The National executive have expiled those who doesn’t like the Freedom Charter from A.N.C. I shall now call my speakers who will speak about the passes to be carried by our women and the education of our children which the government say eve$rchild should be taught by his mother toung. At Masekeny the Munisipality has build the school which is only to be attended by only the Pedi nations and is where the Bantu educationias started. e. are still saying the children must come out of Verwoerd schools before they are spoled in minds by this Bantu education.(2) Muriel Sodinda.

Africans as you see me standing in front of you I am going to tell you about the passes which are going to be carried by women and you know how bad the pass it is. Our men are to be arrested every day and send to Bethal, I Want to knov/ from the women if they have the pockets to carry this pass and our children are refused

Page 7: EXHIBIT G. 207. A.N.C. meeting held in Pimville the 21.1.56 … · 2012-10-31 · EXHIBIT G. 207. • A.N.C. meeting held in Pimville the 21.1.56 Comm. 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Attended by

to go and look for employment in Town. The Freedom Charter says that everybody shall have the right of travelling to where he likes to go. We have went to Pretoria to tell the Government servants that we don't want the passes. We went to Bloemfontein to tell the people that the women of Alexandra doesn't want passes, and the women must go about telling people that they must not carry passes. There was one woman who was given some papers to go and take a pass and she teared them but she was not arrested because the police have no right to arrest her.The Chairman has said in his opening remarks that Bantu

education is bad to our children and people are divided acording to their nationality and when they have reached STD 11 they are told to go and work for Mr. whom. The Government want us to believe that europeans are god. I say to you women that you should take out your children from Verwoerd schools and you must kick the passes which are supposed to be carried by women this year.Cathrina Mogoaj.

Sons and daughters of Africa we have gathered here because of Bantu education and passes which are to be carried by women and on this Bantu education some people says half a loaf is better than nothing. I say I may stay without it, and stay without any education. Verwoerd says we shall hang the passes on the neck like neckleee I say the woman who is going to carry the pass is not a woman, even the pass is going to be carried by any one even the police vwmen who are writing here. I say to you keep away your children from Verwoerd schools and the teachers are going about telling parents that they have done well by keeping away children from Verwoerd schools, but the dgrwill come when we shall withdraw children from schools °nd we are not afraid to go to

jails and Constration Camps.Phineas Nene,

Mr. Chairman ladies ond gentlemen today we are here at No. 2 Square and people are supprised by seeing 2 flags of A.N.C. In 1954 we send those people on the other flag to a Conference in Durban and they were unable to comply with the resolution passed there. About Bantu education which was forced to our children we must oppose it. In 1954 we gave chance to J.B. Marks and he says in his opening remarks explained the activities of A.N.C. Congress and those of Minded Block wanted to chase us out of this. Square but we have defeated them. We have come here to know what Mr. Madzunya is doing in A.N.C. and they have told people that they have bought the car of A.N.C. to go aboi t working for the freedom of the African people. I will tell you why there are two parties here in Alexandra we told Madzunya about the boycott of schools and he didn’t like it. Today I tell everybody who joins that Madzunya party is not belonging to A.N.C. he oelongs to Etopia lion of Juda.Danison Makhiwane,

You know that at this country we are not staying well because of pass which oven if you have went to WDrk the wife doesn’t believe that you will come back from work. Many people say if we fight the govt it is going to form heave laws to them. We of A.N.C. doesn't hasitate about the oppression which is on us is going even on our children. The speakers have spoke about Bantu Education and this passes which are to be carried by our women, those who are graduates are not here who were suposed to be our leaders and many people said they can not opose Bantu education because the Sylubus is not yet out and Congress has cposed it. Africans we are one

thing and we shall defeat this govomnent thus why they *say every child should he taught on his mother toting becr-use they are afraid that we shall unite and achieve our freedom. The women who havo went to Pretoria it was the first step against the passes to be carried by our women. When fighting Bantu education and passes we shoufi not stop these but fight everything even the 7d, which is payed to P.U.T.C. We must know that the Nationalist Govt is the enemy to Africans and you must go about telling people that Bantu education passes and every law is bad to Africans.J.B. Mngoma,

Is not the first time of doing this of separation in the people. Judas have separated him self from other people. There were people who followed Jesus and others didn't like him and others liked Judas because he sold the leader of freedom who was Jesus. Now Mad- zunya is just the same like Judas .nd the Govt is not going to worry him because he opposed the Freedom Charter. You will find that our African people in the force are the most working whilst the europeans are going about in the Plying Squads. Madzunya was suspended by Congress and he was called to come and hear his charge but he never come, and he hired the lorry to Bloemfontein with £30 and is the money which was collected by the children for schoolfees and he was chased out of the Conference. We can dowith everybody acording to the Freedom Charter and we want any nation to join us. And the other branches of Madzunya are at Edenvale and Middelburg and Verwoerd likes these Congress I don't like what Verwoerd likes and what everybody belonging to the Nationalist party. I like Indians because the Govt, does not like them and we wantthem to be with us.AFSKRIF/HFP/3. 16.2.1956.

Becuase Bantu is a factory for all bad laws if we agree to Bantu authoroties this country will be Police State. White people came here and build church houses and Zoo as we are here at the Zoo at Site & Service houses cost £260.0.0. 20 years list at £2.17.11. per month. We A.N.C. count this money we get £721, within 20 years at £2.17.11 per month not £260 as they say. That is robbery of people money. We want no houses but land to build our own houses there will be no Bantu Education, no ethnic grouping, no pass laws, no Police State in our Township, no Police raidings.
