BackgroundICSE began in 1975 in the USA as the National Conference onSoftware Engineering, and was renamed as the International Con-ference on Software Engineering in 1976. Since then it has beenheld with great success all over the world. For example, ICSE2000 took place in Limerick, Ireland, ICSE 1999 in Los Angeles,USA, and ICSE 1998 in Kyoto, Japan. Each year it attracts theleading researchers in the field of software engineering and manyrepresentatives of market-leading companies worldwide.

Today, the engineering of software profoundly impacts world eco-nomics. The desperate demands by all information technologysectors to adapt their information systems to the web has gener-ated a tremendous need for methods, tools, processes, and infra-structure to develop new and evolve existing applicationsefficiently and cost-effectively.

Participate in ICSE 2001 and help us build an exciting forum forexchanging ideas and experiences in this ever expanding and criti-cal field of software engineering.

Formal Research DemosFormal research demonstrations are intended to show non-com-mercial implementations of novel software engineering conceptsand tools. Conference participants can view research systems inaction and discuss further details with the people who createdthem.

Presentation30 minute presentation with projection technology and display ofa poster or demo system in the exhibit hall. An accepted formaldemonstration will have a two-page description in the ICSE 2001conference proceedings.

Posters and Informal Research DemosPosters and informal research demonstrations provide the oppor-tunity to exhibit late-breaking research results. Informal demon-strations can be used for work that may be more effectivelypresented to a small audience.

PresentationPosters and informal demonstrations will be located in the exhibithall. Please provide copies of your poster or informal demonstra-tion description at your booth.
