Social Enterprise Solutions:

Tanjun enjoys 100% success rate of sanctions from the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) by preparing innovative DPRs for our customers from Delhi, MP, Tamilnadu, UP, Uttarakhand, Arunachal and Sikkim. We are proud to be the only consulting firm that has prepared the project reports for five sanctioned Sector Skill councils of textile, agriculture, sports, media & entertainment & food processing.

Our Principal Associate (second standing from left) led the team of B-ABLE that acquired the first sanction from NSDC of Rs. 320 million in 2009. We are glad to be in the history book of India’s skill development story. Our core competence lies in the preparation of detailed project reports (DPRs) following scientific primary data collection, analysis, study, comparisons, risk assessment and finally the compiling of path breaking and innovative documents that have a habit of finding sanction with the toughest of evaluators.

Community Interfacing: (Grassroots Focus Group Action Research)

Rurban school groups: There is no escaping the importance of school children when addressing skill development. Their aspirations and dreams have to be factored in when deciding what work India will do in the next decade. We spend a great deal of time with them to set better and more future focused skill development goals.

Arunachal bamboo workers: Since we are a country where stepping into work happens at an early age, it is only natural that by the time the youth reach their real working age they are frustrated and disillusioned. Continuous interaction with young people from diverse backgrounds and geographies allows us to track skill gaps and provide practical re-skilling solution. The community is our college. We believe strongly in the ability of people to find their own solutions when facilitated honestly. We work closely at the school level to understand the employment mood of future generations as well as interact significantly with the adult community to understand re-skilling & up-skilling needs for enhanced livelihoods in the contemporary world.

Community Interfacing: (Government to Community: G2C Linkages)

Tanjun makes sure that every roundtable and every seminar where public & government representatives speak about the schemes and facilities is well attended by the responsible members of the relevant community. We then take inputs and suggestions from the community to deliver tailor made solutions. Picture shows Gram Pradhans (Village heads) from the devastated Kedarnath valley at the India prefab seminar to evaluate different shelter options before winter set in.

Much before the Swachh Bharat scheme came into existence, our team at the training center was already putting prefabricated concrete bio-toilets & septic tanks to trial and showcasing it to both buyers & academicians. It is this ability to forecast livelihood and skill development options that keeps us ahead while yearning for more challenges. We believe that all the solutions already exist in government files. There is an urgent need to stop reinventing the wheel and get down to real action, by bringing the relevant information, knowledge and resources to the community and our customers in the modern spirit of connectivity, collaboration and convergence.

Knowledge & Research: (Business Analysis & Strategy Development)

Tanjun team is seen facilitating an intense strategy development session with a core group of CEOs and global delegation on behalf of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI). Results are then analyzed and run through a strategy matrix customized to specific industry needs and demands.

When Honda Motor Company of Japan decided to run a highly confidential design strategy study in India, it selected Tanjun to facilitate and lead the entire program spread over two years and involving thousands of participants. Tanjun leads many a forum where business, development and CSR strategies are built. Our visioning, forecasting and positioning capabilities are trusted by the best in India and the world. We can proudly claim that ALL our customers have returned to us and brought along new ones.

Knowledge & Research: (Technical knowledge reports & white papers)

The technical paper prepared by Tanjun detailing rehabilitation methodologies and appropriate prefabrication technologies being released by the Honorable Cabinet Minister of Uttarakhand for forests, law & justice and sports Shri Dinesh Agarwal & Honorable chairman of the Uttarakhand minorities commission Shri: N.S. Bindra and the Chairman of the Institution of Engineers Er. J.P. Tomar.

When NSDC and FICCI were stumped with lack of sports data, Tanjun took up a three-year challenge to frontend all the research and compile the papers that eventually formed the basis for setting up of the Sector Skills Council in Sports. Or for that matter when NABARD wanted to pilot the concept of Rurban development it looked to Tanjun to provide honest inputs and real time data. Tanjun’s expertise in the knowledge sector comes from the fact that we start by believing that we have NO knowledge. Then we put honesty, passion and commitment to finding the right knowledge from the right people and places and organizations and compile them scientifically for our customers. The way knowledge consulting should be done.

Knowledge & Research: (Think Tanks, Discussion Forums & Roundtables)

The government of Karnataka wanted to initiate discussions between leading education providers to build sustainable bridges between school education & skill development. Tanjun was called in to create the relevant platform and suggest action. The action is being implemented now.

The other roundtable: We dare say we encourage the community and get the best ideas and inputs for the social sector from right among the beneficiaries. The voices that find opportunity for the first time carry years of wisdom and observation. Tanjun’s roundtables, forums and discussions enjoy the most extraordinary takeaways from the most unconventional settings. We encourage discussion among similar groups as well as exponentially opposed groups to provoke solution finding for our customers’ benefit.

Knowledge & Research: (Labour & Skill Market Information System - LMIS)

Tanjun’s has opted for a five-year self-funded challenge to develop the most powerful and comprehensive Labour Market Information System Platform with India’s leading software development companies. We believe that this engine will drive skill development and employment in the future. This platform will allow all skill stakeholders to log in and access data relevant to them while interacting and sharing knowledge with other similar organizations and individuals worldwide. This initiative will, we believe, be the single most important tool to create accountability and weed out corruption from the humongous skill development eco-system that is rapidly forming in India. It will be a platform and device independent system that can be accessed by everyone from anywhere over the mobile telephony platform.

Knowledge & Research: (Creating IP)

Tanjun’s expertise in the skill development space has earned it the responsibility of writing the National Occupational Standards and Qualification Packs for the Sports, Physical Education, Fitness and Leisure sector skills council of India. Tanjun has also been the only agency tasked with the responsibility of organizing and collecting first hand data on sport for employment from selected states of India and compiling them into reports that will eventually be used to develop sports skills policy at the national level. Tanjun team is proud to take on the responsibility to create India’s first Sports for Employment data bank and recommend policy.

Tanjun LSTR: (Livelihood Skill Training & Research Centre)

Tanjun’s LSTR is not only a skill training centre. It is a philosophy come to life. A hectic plasma of activity that is constantly dynamic and constantly valuable. It stems from the convergence of three ideas given to us by three great people who have lived and shown actual proof of human endeavor and success within our immediate memory.

Firstly the great Shri Aurobindo of Pondicherry, India said, “This is the time for something else, and something else, is not the same thing with an improvement.”

Secondly Mr. Daisaku Ikeda of SGI Japan says, “An ascending life, in which we keep striving to grow is what is meant by human revolution.

And lastly Mr. Steve Jobs of Apple USA said “Stay hungry, Stay Foolish.”

So there it is, the story of LSTR.

Firstly to try and completely rethink and redesign the skill development process without having to reinvent or to simply improve upon what exists, secondly to ensure that every one associated with the LSTR must be encouraged to begin their Human revolution and not just pass out as trained workers and thirdly all of us must pledge to remain forever hungry and forever foolish to be able to achieve beyond our visible targets.

LSTR:

At Tanjun’s LSTR we carry 5 programs: Community Sports & Fitness, Building prefabricated ferroconcrete structures, Bamboo composite buildings, Food & fruit processing and Nettle fibre textile making. All are futuristic and totally sustainable disciplines.

Rather than showcase pictures of training we are proud to show the resort that our first batch trainees built in Badrinath at 10000’ height and earned upwards of Rs.15000.00 each per month followed by repeat orders. They are now a group of small entrepreneurs and self-employed.

Another group of trainees are busy building prefabricated ferroconcrete homes for the population devastated by the Kedarnath flash floods in Uttarakhand. They are supported by our structural & architectural teams to make houses that are certified by IIT-Kanpur to withstand up to 9.0 richter earthquakes and 450Kph winds. LSTR is not an NGO, it is a sustainable activity where we hope everyone will contribute and join together to show that working innovatively at the bottom of the pyramid is a great way to achieve social objectives and that profit is not a dirty word.

Processed, packed and ready for market. The LSTR not only trains for technology but also for marketing, formation of producer companies, banking, service orientation and safety through a structured curriculum.

Tanjun LSTR: Community coaches with the National Boxing Coach from Australia during a ModBox fitness-training program held at our LSTR, which has been adjudged one of the leading interventions in the India-Australia Partnership program. Forty-three community coaches and over 600 students have been advantaged through this unique initiative. A happy set of trainees on their day of graduation from LSTR who proceeded to provide ferroconcrete solutions to the earthquake ravaged Nepal. Thanks to Mr. Yogesh Srivastav, Director PHDCCI, The Director IRDT-Uttarakhand Er. R.P. Gupta, Principal of Government Polytechnic-Dehradun Er. D.C. Gupta, Dr. A.K. Jain (IIT, MNNIT), Er. R. Sinha (BHU), all of who contributed in preparing a somewhat lost batch of newcomers into a strong group of employable young people.

Tanjun Events: Tanjun owns and annually organizes two events in line with its skill development programs to facilitate the exposure to trainees and networking with markets and employment providers. These events and seminars bring together the best brains and organizations in their respective fields to help us chart the future course of actions and develop relevant curricula.

Students and prospective trainees get a touch and feel experience of prefab technology along with experts who counsel them into taking skill training decisions that are career oriented and have foreseeable future growth prospects. We have recorded huge successes in mobilizing trainees through this method of creating events around the needs and aspirations of our youth and letting them decide what they should learn, in consultation with industry experts on the subject.

Greenstock is a platform that will dictate skills and jobs in the coming future within the scope of environmental and ecological services. For that we need to start mindscaping the youth starting today while preparing occupational standards and content for tomorrow. It is an action-based program to bring youth and the opportunities of environmental skills together on one platform in an atmosphere of fun, sports, music and camaraderie.
