CALL FOR APPLICAtIONS 2017/18
Senior policy professionals in the public sector and civi l society as well as journalists are facing a plethora of complex challenges. The Mercator Science-Policy Fellowship-Program is a new, demand-driven and tailor-made program for senior policy professionals and journalists, which is unique to Germany. The program acquaints senior policy professionals with state-of-the-art research on the issues they are working on.
The program is funded by Stiftung Mercator and administered by the strategic al l iance of the Rhine-Main Universities. It offers networking opportunities for academics, journalists, and senior policy professionals from the public sector and civi l society. Based on the thematic interests of the fel lows, the Rhine-Main Uni- versities organize face-to-face meetings with accomplished scholars in order to discuss timely questions.
Fellows wil l spend a total of five days at the Rhine-Main Universities throughout the year.

WHO IS tHE PROGRAM FOR?
The program is designed for senior policy professionals from the public sector and civi l society as well as senior journalists.
WHAt dOES tHE MERCAtOR SCIENCE-POLICY FELLOWSHIP-PROGRAM OFFER?
→ A tailor-made program of face-to-face meetings with scholars from the Rhine-Main Universities
→ Opportunities to expand personal networks by l iaising with accomplished scholars and senior policy professionals
→ New perspectives on salient topics at the intersection of academic research, public policy, and media
→ Access to the academic community of the Rhine-Main Universities as a visiting scholar
→ Membership in the Rhine-Main Universities’ alumni association as a »Science Policy Partner of Preference«
HOW IS tHE SCIENCE-POLICY FELLOWSHIP- PROGRAM dESIGNEd?
→ Annual call for applications for 20 fel lowships with the duration of one academic year
→ A total attendance of at least 5 days at the Rhine-Main Universities, including joint stays of al l fel lows from October 17 – 19, 2017 and from April 11 - 13, 2018
→ The program is free of charge (fel lows’ employers are expected to release the fel lows from their duties during their stay at the Rhine-Main Universities and to cover their travel expenses)
HOW CAN I APPLY?
The application package consists of:
→ A completed application form including a letter of motivation available at www.uni-frankfurt.de/science-policy or [email protected]
→ A curriculum vitae
→ A letter of recommendation from a senior supervisor of the sending organization Applications must be submitted by June 19, 2017 via email to [email protected] steering committee with eminent members from academe and the public sector wil l select the fel lows for the academic year 2017/18.
