• The iconic posters from Raleigh’s past all tell their own stories and can be a link to Nottingham’s Designers from the past and the 21st. Century, just as the area is known for it’s historic designer lace making.

• However with Exclusive designs request for contemporary design that links with the past the inclusion in the writers mind is met by the use of these posters in the office.

• Drawing on the colours and changing bicycle designs to indicate the diversity of the company and encourage its staff to experiment and strive to design sought after objects , graphic and spaces for modern historic Britain.

• Bespoke decagon table with a black polished granite inset on a oak table and 10 designer chairs . Initially designer Vanda’s own bespoke contemporary unusual design for Exclusive Design. 12 legged chairs with 3 legs on each corner, with 2 vertical ribs forming a frame for the back laced together with leather, the spine is a thick leather strap to which the lace work is attached.

The front door arch is to be replicated with the lead lace work to the in with the historic building.

Laid on raised circular platform with tyre rubber edging reached by wooden bridging ramp. Dropped ceiling features giant cycle wheel made from galvanised steel with LED lights to emphasise the spokes . A polished metal rim completes the effect. giving the wheel a modern trending space bound effect.

The handmade Oak boardroom table is inlaid with slate to seat 12 people

12 designer chairs that feature 12 Legs made from modern coloured polycarbonate to replicate wood

Laced leather back and seat a reminder of the Lace heritage of the area.

Small reflection’s irregularities on the desk are due to manual processing.

• The image below is inspiration for the management team.

• Pure white sleek desk tops tops, with blue accent trimming. This team managers nest of desks with built in cupboards to reduce storage furniture is selected to keep with the core staff furniture theme on the fist floor where the large wheel of desks will create a dramatic effect emphasising the graphics on the wall “ SPINNING EXCLUSIVE DESIGNS”

• Screens for privacy may be used on the sides, as in the planned layout this nest will be on the open floor very near the window with only iMac screens and key boards to keep the desk free for use.

• The 2 managers that will join the management team on the ground floor will be in a more private area where the trending bench desk is planned for their seating will encourage communication and keep the space light and open.

According to Sir Kenneth Grange in an interview on ‘Design for all ages’ in Spring/Summer 2015 Trends says ”It’s a fact that some of the old things were functionally good at the beginning and are just

as good today.” -His example the timeless Anglepoise lamp should be dotted on managements contemporary desks.

Panel free open space creating desks

I have selected the x10 120 symmetrical workstation from Elm. As the administration staff will be dealing with files requiring matching lockable cupboards rather than under desk credenzas. Cupboards are included in the design layout similar to the storage seen in the inspiration image on the right. These have been selected to creat more space on the floor area as they will be set against the wall. Here I have selected desks that have a large spacious area to work on to the front of the person though a quarter round cut into the perceived expansive surface reduces this space, user comfort and their perception of having a very large desk space is achieved. By using desk mounted computer screens completes the the Administration workstation zone.

To further create an individual area, accent trim in Orange is suggested., said to be the colour of harvest, a mixture of Yellow and Red fI believe is perfect for the all important administration functions. With Adlington two tone in earthy shades, high back task swivel chair chairs selected for comfort for the staff and a matching Managers chair with Independent seat and back adjustment .

the client is in the right place with an architect they can trust to deliver their dream plan.

A designers bench with an accent colour trim done in a current trending shade that can be changed yearly, with pull down trending task lights often used in contemporary kitchen designs, are suggested. The bench is of a long rectangular shape with an easy write on wipe off surface where designers can make notes while working on projects. The bench is space friendly and providing for rolls of tracing paper and sketch paper to be mounted at each end. Rise and lower desks are great for posture and offer the staff posture options .The two on the lower left could be very good space saving options but as space does not seem to be a big issue. I would suggest the rise and drop desk option from with screen and keyboard platforms centrally mounted on the desk workstation zone .Creative royal purple is the suggested accent trim for the desks

The posters reminds staff that design that has longevity and is user friendly still

rules the day.

The best zone for 12 members of staff that are expected to all want to interact, will be placed in the largest area on the 1st floor that is on the left with lift

access for disabled.The floor covering in grey black will be hard wearing

matting designed in a graphic convergence of runways between each quarter segment, continuing with the

design statement feature of the boardroom (the cycle wheel).

Using the design feature of a bicycle wheel on the floor and with high open ceilings above will allow for 4

3 divisions seating workstations in each quarter segment. It would be possible to have different desk

configurations as examples of design options available to clients but I believe this may confuse the eye in the

constrained space. Colour coding each quarter zone with Raleigh iconic colours of red / yellow / blue and white side screens

allowing the whole area to be open and light will create a happy fun exciting work zone.

The Key to successful breakout rooms is to trigger relaxing emotions by visual and tactile means. The Raleigh posters over the years achieve the visual triggers and the smooth table tops the tactile enhanced by the use of relaxing soft comfortable seating .I have selected Uk’s“Gresham Office Furniture Limited Horwich, Bolton, BL6 4SA” The very trending Yellow to brighten up the fun room.

The posters I have selected to create this atmosphere in the small light filled space on the 1st floor are reminders to the staff that they all have dreams, sometimes humorous aspirations and holidays with loved ones to think about as hip fashionable destinations.

Raleigh cycles have their home in Nottingham a trusted brand that by association and placing their posters around the entire office should and will create links with the past present future campions that the company will want to inspire.

Work and relaxation all psychological elements that designers endeavour to link to with their creations even fear and dark emotions can be as mysteriously created by using colour in the right zones , it is for this reason that Raleigh colours of Yellow Black Red and Blue are suggested as accents to spacious white and the glass boardroom and meeting rooms. The lift too will use glass cladding to keep the rooms light and bright but still offer some privacy.

One of my suggestion for the lift is to place it near the reception and to use glass walls a smooth and transparent material. which will reduce the heavy impact a steel or fully clad lift shaft would have in the space.

Glass and coloured lights that link to the area to the lift and change colour on each floor. is very on trend making it possible to use a modern contemporary reception desk similar to the image on the right.

• Designers in 2015 are encouraged to design with the ecology in mind for this reason i have include the space saving Eco friendly Dyson Airblade V Hand Dryer be used in all the toilets and Kitchen spaces.

To comply with Disabled access legislation a small lift is to be installed . My suggestion for a locally made (Andover in Wiltshire) t double access lift is to place it at the back of the boardroom and to use glass cladding a smooth and transparent material. which will reduce the heavy impact a steel or fully clad lift shaft would have in the space.

Glass and coloured lights that link to the area to the lift and change colour on each floor. is very on trend again modern and contemporary and complying with human rights legislation.

High tech modern accessories are suggested through out the office including wireless

computers.

Being aware os the current solutions being offered and being able to assure clients that they have personally tested the suggested

products builds trust and should be embraced. A few of my selections are included here.
