One, who do you know that would make a great addition to our club? Invite them to a meeting and let them see what we do for the community. Two, if you have any fundraising ideas we can do as a club, please share them with me or another Board member. Some of the things we have been doing to support the club and community are getting a little beyond most of us physically. The more ideas we have, the better. So put on the thinking cap and send in those ideas. Don't forget to set your clock BACK November 4. Spring forward, Fall back. We voted early yesterday. I am so grateful to be here in the USA where the process of voting takes place so effortlessly (multiple sites, multiple dates, multiple candidates, etc.). So many of us take the right and privilege of voting for granted, yet we have only to look across the globe to see how many people are struggling, fighting and even dying for the right to vote for their government. It truly is our responsibility to honor these struggles by actively engaging in the civic process by being informed voters. Nov. 6

MISSION: Exchange, inspiring communities to become better places to live.

I hope I don't jinx us, but Wow! What nice Fall weather we have been having! Once again we had an interesting and informative speaker at the last meeting. Here’s two take-aways I got from the presentation: First, never ever leave your keys in the car! Second: Many of our local officers donate time, talent and money from their own pocket to help finance holiday programs. Thank you Officer Yuska!

Two things I would like you to think about.

We will honor ordinary citizens and a business who routinely fly the flag.

Officer Brian Yuska of the East Moline Police Department joined us on October 18 and shared the COPs (Community Oriented Policing) program with us.

The COPs program is designed to create some stronger ties with the city and youngest residents and Officer Yuska says, “The police department has wanted to get more connected with the community and kind of go back more old school with being active in our community.”

A variety of events have been undertaken to create a friendly, receptive environment for children and their parents. Some of these include:

Fishing Derby

Shop with a Cop, Movies in the Park

QC Police Academy for adults and children

Lunch with a Cop

The children get to interact with police officers and “it's not an official situation, it's not a bad situation or a situation that might frighten small children. They get to come out, they get to play with us, talk with us," said Officer Yuska.

We are proud of the work that Officer Yuska is doing to make our community a better place.

Jim Moews still has a few Dining Tour books available for you now. He will have books at the November meetings or contact him (309.496.9046, [email protected]) today to reserve your books.

Believe it or not, our Christmas Dinner and Auction is just over a month away. Fern and Larry Greer have been busy little elves putting final touches on our Christmas feast to be held at Pinnacle Golf Club on December 2 at 5:00 pm. They will have a sign-up sheet at the November meetings or call at 309.737.6595

We need your input and ideas about games and/or entertainment for the party. Can you help?? What do you do for fun at your family or work holiday gatherings? What have you heard your friends or family talking about? Just drop a line or give a call to Lois Dixon ([email protected], 309.738.5006) or Carol Murphy ([email protected], 309.269.4464).

Don’t forget your auction items! A great variety of items makes early Christmas shopping so berry merry easy!

A strong America, safe communities, and

unified people.

The overcast skies did not deter the efforts of these Exchangites who worked diligently to winterize the East Moline Welcome Garden. Tom Viscioni embraces the beauty of fall all around him

These members made short work of the fall clean-up effort: Ralph Wilshusen, Bob Dixon, Jerry Greer, Tom Viscioni

While most of the garden may be at rest, these mums are giving their all in one last hurrah before winter arrives.
