The Nocera, a small estate situated in Maremma, is

historically linked to the Etruscan culture. The vines

of this estate were planted on about 5 hectares, on the

hills by the village Casale Marittimo, at about 200 mt

above sea level. The terroir is composed of

sedimentary clays of the Pliocene; it is calcareous,

poor in nitrogen and organic substances but rich in

potassium, magnesium and calcium. WOW, got

In 1997, Andrew Nugent planted vineyards on 100 acres on Bird in Hand Road, Woodside. The road itself was named after the "Bird in Hand" gold mine that operated in the district in the 1850s.Four hundred metres above sea level, the vineyards face north and boast deep, well drained red earth, formed from metamorphic rock.To extend the winemaking range available to Bird in Hand, another vineyard in Clare has been aquired to provide fruit for our world class Riesling and Shiraz.
