A) Piano Classical Piece

Play one piano classical piece which you can demonstrate your musical sense and technique.

B) Compulsory Piece (Student’s composition) Play one compulsory piece (“Run Away, Jackrabbit”). The score is included at the end of this

document.

C) SIGHT PLAYING Play by sight a given short piano piece. The score will be shown at the exam.

II. PRACTICAL TEST

A) Solfège Singing

Sing by Solfège a given melody of around 8-16 bars in length. The score will be shown at the exam.

Procedure

1. Read the given score for 20 seconds.

2. Check the pitch by playing the first note/chord, then sing the melody by solfège.

B) Accompaniment Play a given melody with an appropriate accompaniment. The score will be shown at the exam.

Example

Procedure

1. Play the given melody once while thinking of an accompaniment which suits the melody.

2. Then play the melody with an appropriate left-hand accompaniment. For example-

III. MUSICAL DICTATION Listen to a recording of around 4 bars in length and notate on provided score sheet.

The piece consists of 3 parts (melody, harmony and bass) and is played with the Electone (electric

organ) sound.

Candidates are asked to notate all three parts. Example

Procedure

1. The key is informed in advance, and the root note of the key is played once with Piano sound

prior to beginning the dictation.

2. The piece is played five times with intervals. Notate all parts (melody, harmony and bass) within

the given time (20 minutes). The harmony part may be answered by chord names or roman

numerals like the following example. Answer Sheet
