Message from the President Vanessa Davis | Broadway/San Diego
Together we S.O.A.R…
January is now behind us and, is it just me, or did anyone else feel like they had to ‘keep their arms and legs inside the ride’ the whole time? It was great to come together for our chapter meeting at Sushi on a Roll (S.O.A.R) for some team building and the unique experience of learning to roll sushi and, of course, to “respect the rice.” Thank you to our Programs Directors and
the team at S.O.A.R for putting together such a fun evening.
February is Women’s Heart Health Month, so let’s heart all about it… The American Heart Association estimates that heart disease will take 1 out of 3 women we love and respect every year. Luckily, there are ways to fight it. How? Glad you asked…
Manage stress
Improve cholesterol levels
Control high blood pressure
Get active
Follow a heart-healthy diet
These seem pretty easy, right? Riiiiight. For more tips and facts on heart health, visit www.goredforwomen.org and please consider
wearing red to our February meeting.
Chapter of Excellence update… We have an exciting update on our Chapter of Excellence Goal. One of the items that needed attention was our Executive Advisory Board, and I am proud to share that we have had three fantastic women agree to support our chapter in this role.

Last month’s meeting was a unique team building dinner at Sushi On A Roll, where we were taught the fine art of rolling sushi. Chef Jeff was very informative and entertaining. He and Chef Sergio guided us as we got “hands on” and learned to “respect the rice.” It was great fun to see how close we could come to making our creations look as good as Chef Jeff’s…with mixed results. It really didn’t matter…it still tasted great!

HAPPY RETIREMENT!
Sustaining Member and Courtesy Committee Chairperson, LINDA KENT, retired January 31, 2017 with a special celebration held at the San Diego Public Library. She has been working part-time for the last 20 years in the
publishing industry, so being surrounded by books was the perfect setting!
Linda joined EWI of San Diego in 1989 representing Ocean Garden Products. She has served our Chapter well over the years, chairing several
committees. Let’s wish Linda a long and happy retirement!
