Special Short-term ProgramSpecial Short-term Program is a customized program helping foreign students learn Korean through Korean mass media, K-pop, soap opera, UCC production. 2 tracks of field trip are included in the program. We offer 7 day-course (for adult and high school student) and 10 day-course (for high school student only).

Korean for Academic Purposes Program(KAPP)The KAPP is intensive program helping foreign students learn Korean up to the level required to apply for universities. TOPIK preparation class is included. We guarantee university entry level Korean skills for intermediate level applicants within six months.

Test of Proficiency in Korean(TOPIK) ProgramThe TOPIK program is offered twice a year (Summer·Winter) for the foreign students preparing for the exam.

Commissioned Korean ProgramAs a customized program commissioned by a foreign university or institution, Korean Language Center offers a short-term customized course each year for the students who major in Korean language at foreign universities.

Academic Korean ProgramThis program is for international students and exchange students at Ewha Womans University. It assists students in taking undergraduate and graduate course and major classes as well as carrying out diverse activities needed for their academic studies.※ Please refer to the ELC website (http://elc.ewha.ac.kr) for more information.

VisaA short-term visa of a minimum of 30 days is needed. However, students from some countries with national agreements with Korea are exempt from the visa requirement.※ ELC does not offer the required documents for visa application. However, the receipt for tuition fee can be issued upon request.

Ewha Korean(이화 한국어)

『Ewha Korean』is the main course book series of ELC’s Korean language programs. This series is upgraded by reflecting the latest leading-edge teaching methodology in addition to communicative approaches and by targeting the reinforcement of the learners’ speaking skills. Moreover, in order to provide the beginning level learners with more convenience in learning, English, Japanese and Chinese(simplified/traditional characters) translations were added. At the ELC, 『Ewha Korean』has been used as the main course book since late 2009 and the level six textbook had been published in October 2012.

STUDENT LIFE GUIDANCE

Criteria for Completion & Passing Level• Minimum 80% of total class attendance and average score of over 70 (over 60 per subject)• If student passes Intensive Program, student may move to a higher level

Cancellation & Refund[Intensive program]• We refund 90% of tuition if student withdraws before the beginning of the semester.• We refund 80% of tuition if student withdraws within a week after the beginning of the semester.• Refund and course withdrawal are not possible after a week past from the beginning of the semester.• The dormitory fee is refundable no later than 21 days before the check-in day.

[Short-term program]• We refund 90% of tuition if student withdraws before

the placement test day• We refund 80% of tuition if student withdraws

between the placement test day and the beginning day of the semester.• Refunds and course withdrawals are not possible after

the beginning of the semester.• The dormitory fee is refundable no later than seven

days before the check-in day.※ Only tuition (except for the admission fee) and the dormitory fee are

Student Counseling Sessions

Language center faculty offers counseling sessions to assist students with life in Korea and with their Korean studies. (English, Japanese and Chinese interpretation available)

Culture Classes and Culture EventsEwha Language Center offers diversified programs each semester for the students to join, such as exhibitions and performances on traditional and popular Korean culture. The ELC also hosts cultural events like Korean Speech Contest.

Club ActivitiesStudents may participate in various kinds of clubs includ-ing photography club, dance club, music club and body-fit club. This provides students with the opportunity to interact with students of different nationalities and to enjoy their hobbies.

Korean TutorsStudent tutors from Ewha Womans University are available to help the ELC students learn Korean and understand the life and culture of Korea.

DormitoryStudents in Intensive program and Short-term program may apply for the housing in the school dormitories on a first-come-first-served basis. (Dormitory application might not be available according to the ELC’s conditions.)

ELC Scholarships[ELC Scholarship of Excellence in Korean Language]Supporting 1,000,000KRW for two of international freshman students(transfer students are not eligible) of Ewha Womans University who have both passed at least three semesters and completed level six of the Korean Intensive Program at Ewha Language Center.

[Scholarship for Outstanding Korean Learners]Supporting 50% of tuition fees for the attendees of the Intensive Program who receive the best grades in each level and re-register for the next semester.※ Benefits of scholarships above cannot be overlapped.

[ELC Siblings Scholarship]Supporting scholarship for students whose brothers and sisters simultaneously take Korean courses at Ewha Language Center.
