Many generous businesses, groups, and individuals have made this center possible, through a capital campaign led by the St. Bernards Development Foundation. As one of our four Centers of Excellence, the St. Bernards Cancer Center is committed to using the most innovative procedures and technology to diagnose, treat and prevent cancer. Radiation/Oncology

Drs. John Lynch, Christian Okoye and John Allgood are our radiation oncologists and they lead our specially trained cancer care team in diagnosing, planning treatments and delivering radiation treatments and support services to patients with a wide variety of cancers. The cancer care team includes radiation oncologists, radiation physicists, certified medical dosimetrists, radiation therapists, nurses—both registered nurses and nurse practitioners—and cancer navigators. They work closely with radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, surgeons and others in a multidisciplinary approach to cancer treatment.

Hematology/OncologyDrs. Marc Monté, Mazen Khalil and Aamer Farooq diagnose, evaluate and provide treatment strategies for patients with cancer and disorders of the blood and bone marrow. Our medical oncologists and their staff of registered nurses, nurse practitioners and cancer navigators work to provide best-in-class care and treatment for patients with cancer and work collaboratively to ensure a comprehensive approach to treatment for each patient.

State-of-the-Art TechnologyOne of the most important aspects of cancer care is the technology used to diagnose and treat various forms of the disease. Through a continuing program of needs assessment and planning, St. Bernards updates equipment, regularly replacing good technology with great technology.

Cancer NavigationAt the St. Bernards Cancer Center, our Cancer Navigators can guide you through the healthcare system, advocate for you, enhance communication with staff and providers, work with you to find the resources and support your need, help you find financial assistance, arrange screening services, streamline your appointments, arrange services to make sure you can keep those appointments, offer emotional support to you and your family, help you find answers, provide the education and information you need during your treatment, and help you plan for life after cancer.

Multidisciplinary ConferenceSt. Bernards is the first facility in the region to offer a comprehensive multidisciplinary team approach to cancer treatment. This team, made up of Radiation Oncologists, Medical Oncologists, Radiologists, Pathologists, Surgeons, other specialty physicians as well as nurses and cancer navigators, meet weekly to discuss and plan the best and most appropriate course of treatment. This approach has been proven to improve patient care, ease patient fears and most importantly, improve outcomes by guiding and analyzing the patient’s care from diagnosis to treatment and eventually to survivorship.

Outpatient Infusion Infusion therapy involves the administration of medication through a needle or catheter. It is prescribed when a patient’s condition cannot be treated effectively by oral medications. Infusion therapy is defined as a drug that is administered intravenously (through a vein or port). This term also may refer to situations where drugs are provided through other non-oral routes, such as intramuscular injections and epidural routes. Conditions treated with specialty infusion therapies may include various cancers, congestive heart failure, hemophilia, immune deficiencies, and many more. Until the 1980s, patients receiving infusion therapy had to remain in the inpatient setting for the duration of their treatment. For many patients, receiving treatment at an outpatient infusion setting is more practical, convenient and comfortable.

The St. Bernards Cancer Center in Jonesboro employs the best options for battling cancer. With the latest technologies in chemotherapy and radiation treatment, compassionate Cancer Navigators and innovations like the 3-Day Promise, we’re a nationally recognized cancer treatment center and your best choice for cancer care in Northeast Arkansas.
