The Summer Semester of Watermark

University is off to a great start. At

Cranberry we are enjoying all of the new

classes. If there is something that you would like added as a

future University class, please let any of the community Life

team know so that we can get it added to the Fall Semester!

We are always looking for new and exciting classes, as well as

On Friday, May 4th, Jenni Coon, our Business Office Manager, taught

a Watermark University class to residents all about Cinco De Mayo.

We learned all about the origins, and meaning of the holiday. We

also learned many fun and Interesting facts about Mexico. While

learning we also had some fun with picture props, and authentic

Mexican snacks.. If you enjoyed Jenni's class, she will be teaching

another class in June. She will be teaching all about Strawberries.

She will be sharing many interesting facts such as "Did you know

that strawberries are a member of the rose family?". In addition to

these facts we will also taste a variety of strawberry products. Hope

to see you there Friday, June 15th at 2:30pm .

What is an Everyday Hero? it

is a staff person who stands

out as going above and

beyond to be a star in the life

of our residents. Leah

Simmons is our Everyday

Hero! Leah was nominated

and chosen out of hundreds

of nominees. Why is Leah our

Hero? Leah was quickly put into a supervisory role with many

added responsibilities. She has taken it upon her self to breathe a

whole new positive life into the way our residents are served. At

every meal Leah will go to the dining rooms and check with each

of the residents to ensure they are happy with the food and

service. At least a couple of times a week, when she finds a little

spare time in between her new duties, she makes special treats,

like homemade candies or fudge, and hand delivers them to all of

the residents. Please congratulate Leah on this accomplishment!

EverydayHero Have you ever wanted to know more

about the senses as we age? If so you

will definitely want to attend the

upcoming Watermark University series

"Exploring the Senses as we Age". In the

first session entitled "Old Salty" on June

24th at 1:30pm, we will learn about the

edible rock, known as salt. We will learn

all about how our senses change, and

how they are effected with salt. If you

enjoy the first session you will definitely

want to attend the next two as we will

be learning about how our senses

change as we age, and how our taste

changes. This will definitely be a very

interesting series and will be lead by

our Resident Care Director Cynthia

Pourzynal and Program Coordinator

Dana Bergeron. Hope to see you there!

Path to Well-Being

Here at Cranberry there are many opportunities to Thrive, and we get to

see this everyday. It's always great seeing a resident try something new.

We promote this through many of our offerings. We are always looking for

new people to try our Young at Heart Art Class. This class consist of

painting with acrylics, while using many techniques to create a beautiful

painting. This is resident Violet Throumoulos giving the class a try. some of

the residents have not painted a day in their lives, and have created

beautiful pieces. We have many of their beautiful paintings displayed in

the front lobby, stop sown and check them out if you have a minute. The

class is held the last Friday of every month at 10:30, hope to see you there!
