Given the state of the economy, 2009 will continue to be a juggling act for many ofus. Israel too faces fresh challenges and we carry hopes and prayers for true peacein our hearts.
On a personal level, we believe these times provide an opportunity for all of us topause and consider fresh perspectives and new approaches to higher ideals and avalue-driven life.

The So Sushi event (in conjunctionwith the JCC) went down a treat, with 30 livelyparticipants getting stuck in literally, making maki(sushi rolls), uramaki (inside out rolls) and nigiri(hand formed sushi). A thoroughly enjoyablehands on experience - special thanks to theprofessional chefs from Food@work!

Propertyentrepreneur KeithBreslauer gracedthe CJL andthoroughlyimpressed the 100guests that camealong to hear himspeak. A powerfuland entertainingpresentation madefor a highly valuedafternoon. About every six weeks, over 250 young singleprofessionals from every conceivable backgroundget together and enjoy a Shabbat atmosphereover Friday night dinner, at either the Marriot Hotelor back at base at Stratford Place. CJL signatureFriday nights dinners have also developed someinternational flavour with Friday nights entitledFrench Connection, Russian Nights orIndependence Day Dinner.

It turns out, that the West End is just as usual aplace for a shiur than any other part of London.Starting small, but with solid steps, The CJL’sweekly Lunch and Learn is regularly attended by amix of people who work in the area. A deliciously entertaining evening, with asold out class of 30 attendees whoshowed their clearly apparent love ofmaking and of course eating chocolate. The oneand only Carola Weymouth, from CookieCrumbles, delighted the class through tastyways to make all kinds of chocolaty goodness.

The party was HUGE. Tickets sold out, revellersspilling over (respectfully of course) onto the streetand over 400 people enjoying strictly koshercocktails and dancing. Over 200 people came forthe Megillah reading and the party that followed hadan unforgettable atmosphere as we celebratedanother Jewish victory which we bring to life on thisamazing festival. Simple, over 10 nationalities said Ma Nishtanah.The international flavour, the interaction between adultsand children and the very relaxed and beautiful settingmade close to 100 guests feel uniquely connected inpurpose.
