HON’BLE CHIEF MINISTER GOVERNMENT OF KARNATAKA LAUNCHED

THE COMMENCEMENT OF TUNNELLING WORK ON 30.07.2020

Shri B.S. Yeddiyurappa, Hon’ble Chief Minister along with other Cabinet Ministers, Government of Karnataka Launched

the Tunnelling work by the TBM named URJA to tunnel between Cantonment & Shivajinagar Underground Stations.

Under Phase-2 of the project, Reach-6 line consists of 13.9 kms of Underground Section with 12 Underground Stations.

Shri Ajay Seth, Managing Director, BMRCL & other officials were present on the occasion.

Critical issues faced regarding Land Acquisition for Phase-2 of the Project

Reach-6 Underground Section

Langford Town Station:- Local Military Authorities (LMA) have sent the proposal for

transfer of 2137.334. sqm of land on permanent basis and 5866.569 sqm on

temporary basis to Army Head Quarters. Matter is being pursued with Defence

Authorities.

Lakkasandra Village Sy. No. 14 and 15:- The re-location of 101 encroachers at

Lakkasandra land is under consideration of Deputy Commissioner, Bangalore

Urban and Karnataka Slum Development Board.

Rastriya Military School Station: Secant Piles are being provided as temporary support structures. 48.8% of the piles for station box and 45% of the piles for entry exit have been completed. 14538 Cum (12.2%) of excavation for the station have been completed.

M G Road Station: Secant Piles are being provided as temporary support structures. 100% of the piles for station box and 38.1% of the piles for entry exit have been completed. 37241 Cum (38.3%) of excavation for the station have been completed.

Shivajinagar Station: Secant Piles are being provided as temporary support structures. 100.1% of the piles for station box and 67.2% of the piles for entry exit have been completed. 83956 Cum (73.1%) of excavation for the station have been completed .

3 Station Works Progress

Cantonment Station:

Hard rock Excavation using Controlled blasting Technique is in progress. 42% of total

excavation, i.e. 67,700Cum of excavation is completed out of 1,62,000Cum.

1078 Sqm. of PCC has been done on south side of the station and a length of 90m has been made ready for launching of Tunnel Boring Machine.

Urja TBM (TBM No 1) was Commissioned by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka on

30.07.2020. This marks the commencement of Tunneling works from Cantonment station towards Shivaji Nagar station.

Vindhya TBM (TBM No – 2) has been assembled and testing of various components is in

progress.

Installation of Slurry Treatment plant is completed, testing of Slurry Treatment plant and

Laying of Slurry pipelines is in progress.

Pottery Town Station:

Temporary support system using Secant Piles are being provided; about 91.9% of the

secant piles for station box and 100% of the secant piles for Ancillary Building have been completed.

Excavation work for station box construction is in progress and so far 10% i.e. 16,735 Cum

of excavation has been completed out of 1,72,889 Cum.

Fabrication & Installation of first layer struts and waler beams are in progress.

4 Peenya Casting Yard Precast Tunnel segment casting is in progress. Casting of 18.3% of tunnel rings has been

completed so far, i.e. 594 Nos. of tunnel rings have been casted out of the total scope of 3244Nos.
