In most hip hop music videos there are many low-angled, close up shots, to imply the artist’s power over their audience. They use low angle which gives them power. By having a narrative It makes it entertaining for the audience to watch as well as listening to the music on its own. We used many different types of shots in the music video for example: Low angle: this shows the singer from a low angle, this also makes the singer look big and also shows the location further Close up: this shows the persons face. The camera shows the facial expressions of the singer. Mid shot: this shows the singer from his waist to head, but still shows the location behind the singer.

What did you set out to do?

We were set out to make a three minute video choosing our own artist; the song we picked was loyal by Chris brown featuring lil Wayne and French Montana which is a hip hop/rnb/rap song.

Who was your target audience?

Our target audience for the song was teens to mid-20’s who enjoy hip hop/rnb/rap music which is usually shown to audiences in a range of locations such as houses, clubs, beaches and parties etc.

What music video conventions were you hoping to replicate?

In most hip hop music videos there are many low-angled, close up shots, to imply the artist’s power over their audience. They use low angle which gives them power. This is because they look down on the audience which shows the singer is bigger than the audience. Close up gives status because it Implies they’re important enough to have a frame to themselves.

The codes and conventions of a music video we used were:

The performance in my music video consists mainly of my artist singing to camera as well as dancing and singing as well. It was a creative way to make it interesting for the audience to watch.

In my music video it’s a mixture; performance and a little bit of narrative. By having a narrative It makes it entertaining for the audience to watch as well as listening to the music on its own.

We used many different types of shots in the music video for example: Low angle: this shows the singer from a low angle, this also makes the singer look

big and also shows the location further Close up: this shows the persons face. The camera shows the facial expressions of

the singer. Mid shot: this shows the singer from his waist to head, but still shows the location

behind the singer. Extreme close up: shows the characters face extremely close this shows the audience

the lip singing and also his facial expressions.

Preproduction Process:I started off by doing some research on other songs before beginning my music video, for example I picked three songs that I was interested in and my objective was to not make the video that already exists but to create a music video to the song based on my thoughts and ideas the This was part of my research and planning.Production Process:

Strengths: The footage me and my group recorded was excellent, we had a lot of footage so this gave us more options when we started editing, and the performers who were involved were excellent and very useful in the music video. The lip synching was almost to perfection making it look like the lip singers were the actual original singers. The locations we used in the music video matched the song genre and were very useful.

When the performers performed; they made it look very indisputable when performing; including the dancing and singing. Another thing that was very affective when recording was the team work; we all met up as a group, we all met up together and went off to record as a unit; everyone has a positive vibe, no one misbehaved on our way to our locations or when recording. We all have a great time recording and enjoyed every moment.

Whilst recording the actors; we captured different shot types and angles which were very useful for our music genre we chose, the codes and conventions were very functional in the music video. The narrative in our music video was one of our strengths because it conveys with the song we chose, for example; one of the actors was lip synching with a girl by his side and then when his part was finished and another actor started lip synching she went along with the new actor who started lip synching; this showed the viewers the meaning of the song visually “these girls aint loyal”

We made sure we captured loads of footage that we could use when editing so we different options when editing.

Weakness:I think the only weakness we had were some of the footage being dark because the footage we recorded was filmed at night and we had no equipment such as lights with us, so we had to use the torch on our phones to improve the light at some locations that didn’t have bright enough lights.

Production and editing logsI feel that my production logs were detailed enough, even though I didn’t write as much as I would have liked to. I wrote a production and editing log after everything the group did such as meeting up with the actors at a specific time that was set and agreed with, editing the music video after finishing recording

Our group had done such as recording in one of our locations or synching performances while editing.

Finished Product:

Our finished product had changed from my original ideas which were a boy that went to a party and saw 3 girls that were with their boyfriends but kept looking and teasing him on the dance floor. The boy then saw each of the girls on different days, after the party, and got their numbers and took them out, whilst he took them out at a restaurant the girls boyfriends would call them for their date that was planned but she would have had to text them and tell them she wasn’t feeling well or something. Everyone in my group came up

with different ideas so we all decided to combine all our ideas into one and came up with a final idea. Our final idea was, the 3 main singers all like this one girl and she teases each of the singers when it’s their part of the song. At the end all of the lip singers leave her because she is not ‘loyal’.

By doing this the whole group was pleased and no one disagreed with the final idea we all chose to do.

The finished video relates to everyone, because of its hip hop/rnb/rap genre conveys to guys who want to go out with a certain girl but knows she won’t be loyal. As you can see in my music video you will see the girl going from one guy to the other whilst teasing the guys by dancing around them. The girl we chose to be the disloyal, suits perfectly with the part as she is attractive in different ways.

Technical qualities:

Overall with the editing, I believe my music video is well edited, the fades and cross cuts are very useful and very affective toward the video as it makes it more entertaining to watch rather than watching one performer until he finished his part. When I started with the first performer I had to sync the song with the lip synching -which didn’t take long- before I could carry on with editing the footage. Most of the time I had to use colour correction tool to lighten up the footage as some of the footage was dark and barely visible to see the lip syncing

When others watched the music video I received positive feedback, and told me how my editing went with the song genre and how the camera shots and different locations fitted with the song my group chose.
